Question about manufacturers
Posted by Eriediamond on Saturday, December 3, 2005 7:14 PM
An earlier post about e-mailing manufacturers prompts this question. My question concerns motive power and rolling stock and if there are others that may have the same complaint as I do. I model the Erie RR and there are enough engines and cars, both freight and passenger, to satisfy me as far as rolling stock goes with one big exception. No one that I'm aware of makes caboose in the Erie livery. Now before you bombard me with the idea of painting and decaling my own, let me say that I've done a lot of searching for decals. Only decals I've found are for locos. Also I know that the Erie isn't one of the most popular roads to model, but it seems to me that manufacturers that produce the Erie locos and cars must have done some research to reach a conclusion that there would be enough buyers to go through the expense to manufacture Erie locos and cars and that they would be smart enough to know that if there is a market for these locos there would also be a market for a caboose with that road name too, even a "generic" one. Do they not know that trains had cabooses for the road names they make engines for? I don't advocate that they have to be sold as a set but they would at least be available. I just wonder if anyone else has this problem or am I just poppin off steam here? Thanks, Ken

Making your own decals is surprisingly easy. I have been making decals for my freelance line for a while now. www.micromark.com sells the decal paper and all the liquids you need to apply decals. Search for decals.
