BLI's F7s Question
Posted by whitman500 on Monday, November 21, 2005 11:15 AM
It looks like the Broadway Limited F7s will finally be arriving in the next month or so. I'm interested in getting a NP F7 with sound but only in a passenger paint scheme (i.e., green not black). Does anyone know if the BLI NP F7 is a passenger or a freight locomotive? I can't seem to find a picture anywhere. Also, if you happen to know, are there any other NP passenger F7s on the market with sound or in which sound could be installed?

Thanks.

I thought it was March '06. Well that is good news. I hope they make enough Warbonnets. Let's not pull another Athearn now (Genesis).

Looks like Feb for the first batch and May for the second

Brad,

The BLI web pages indicate that the NP F7's will be 6008ABCD - this is the numbers for the freight units. The passenger units were numbered in the 6500 series for the ABA sets of F7's. The NP originally ordered the passenger F3's in ABB sets. They later ordered ABA sets of F7's and enough additional F7's to convert the original ABB sets into ABA sets. These were delivered in a two tone dark green with yellow stripe scheme. Later, the passenger equipment was repainted in the 'Lowey' two tone green with white stripes......

Thanks Jim. I know now that I shouldn't wait for the BLI version and should look for an alternative (either adding sound to an Athearn or painting an undecorated version from BLI, etc.).
