Ben,
I did a keyword search at the Index of Magazines at the top of the page, and here are the 3 article citations I found:

HO Scale Phosphate Plant (a place to park those side-dumps) Model Railroading, November 1988, page 40 ( INDUSTRY, PHOSPHATE, STRUCTURE, "WILKES, JOHN", MRG )

70-ton Phosphate Quadruple Covered Hopper Cars Railway Prototype Cyclopedia - Volume 4, page 71 ( ACL, COVERED, DRAWING, HOPPER, PHOSPHATE, QUADRUPLE, ROSTER, SAL, SHPX, WAB,
"WIDER, PAT", FREIGHTCAR, PROTOTYPE )

Big business in Bone Valley Trains, June 2005, page 46 Phosphate mining in Florida ( CSX, FLORIDA, "HARTLEY, SCOTT A.", PHOSPHATE, TRN )

The third article may have what you need. If your local hobby shop doesn't have
that issue, you can get a photocopy from Kalmbach Publishing or from the NMRA's Kalmbach Memorial Library :
http://www.nmra.org/library/
Also, try a Google search on the topic. And, you can use the Advanced Search the forums . . . function at the top of the page to see if there are any earlier threads on the topic.

An encyclopedia set may have articles about the processing of phosphates. If you do not have a set at home, I am sure the local libray will have one or more. Also, try the processing companies' websites, some companies will have an education section that tells what they do and might include some sort of process schematic.

You might be surprised to learn that they use some of it in Uranium related work.
