Turnout control

I'm building my layout using handlaid turnouts (Fastrack fixtures) on cork roadbed on 2" foam on 1/2" plywood. There is no acess under about half of the layout thus the 2" foam to provide room for wiring etc. I'm leaning towards using Hump Yard hand throws and have read a few positive comments about them on this forum. Some questions:

1) Are they relatively easy to assemble and adjust to throw the turnout correctly and do they stay in adjustment?
2) Hump Yard's website talks about controlling turnouts 6' away. Can the 6' be streched or does friction dictate the maximum distance?
3) Has anyone used the switch provided to power track indicators on a control panel?

Thanks for any comments you may have before I jump in with both feet. They are not cheap but will resolve some of my accesability problems.

intalco39, This is not a direct answer to your question concerning Hump Yards hand throw switch control, but here goes anyway. My future layout will use a product meant for the model R/C aircraft builders called "Ny-Rod" It is basically a plastic tube within a tube that can be routed around corners and such and used to convert movement from servos to the aircrafts control surfaces. Without going into a lot of detail, one end will be attached to a slide switch that will control signals and panel lights and the other end attached to the throw bar on the switch. Hump Yard are good switch controlers,mine were easy to install and have to problem staying set,expensive but good.[:-,]
