The standard of modelling here is fantastic... don't know about reaching to the back of the baseboard though...

i imagine there used to be a really big roundhouse where that 2nd photo was taken .

you're right about the reach . there's way too much non-railroady stuff in the background that they could have left out

Great pics! I'd love to live in that neighborhood in the first pic.

Hey, whaddya mean! That's a scene from my layout! I kitbashed the roundhouse in full many years ago, and then, to be true to history, reduced it to four stalls later. Good detailing, eh?

Any chance that the A&M facility in Springdale is in that book. I am trying to find photos and such of their facility but have had no luck thus far.

The name of the book is North American Railyards by Michael Rhodes, I look in the index and sorry no Springdale.....

I have found this a great reference just for weathering as its full of fantastic color pics.....its nearly an inch thick...

Thanks

Guys, are any of you diesel fans paying attention? [8D] Look at the service shop buildings in the 2nd photo link.

TheyIt very strongly resembles the HO and N scale Walthers Locomotive Backshop and Car Shop kits! Nice to be able to see prototype that are so similar to our model kits. [;)][C):-)][tup]

Notice though that the shop buildings are facing sideways. The main building has the locomotive / car entrances on the long side rather than on the narrow end, like in the Walther's kits. Makes sense for them to be built in these positions as it makes for a very spacious shop. [8D]

Goes to show that basic industrial designs can be used in many different ways. [;)]

David, thanks for those links! [:D][8D][:)][C):-)][4:-)][swg][tup]
