EDIT: Photos resized, hopefully they're nowhere near as large.

Well, this will mark my 1,000th post.
I apologize in advance for the image sizes.

This thing was in the "practice" box a week ago. Now, it has emerged. It will be a Helm Leasing ex-Chessie box car. I followed prototypes for the most part. Side A is complete. I modeled the scrapes from the forklift operators opening the door with the fork of the forklift, the graffiti, the rusted out area where the doors were rusted shut...until the cheapest railroad establishment in the US got ahold of it!(Helm leasing), and I faded the lettering and logo. The doors are also a realistic...rust. Oh, and of course, it is sitting atop my System of a Down and Audioslave CD's[;)]

Rust area and streaking right over good ol' Chessie.

A bit of graffiti I saw on a box car a few days ago. Hehe, I'll have a funny thread to go along with this later. http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=47841

A couple of roof shots. Best roof I've done yet.

And there's that pesky Railbox. I will get some better shots tomorrow. It's not as dark, or as light, as it appears. Confused?

Looking good so far everyone!

In my own prototypical world, the SP has survived and is in need of new motive power...This weekends project is working on a GP-15-1...Hope it turns out well...

It started as this earlier today, decorated originally in MoPac blue...

It's really exciting to sit around and watch paint dry...See you all later in the weekend!

uspscsx, i too use photobucket, to avoid the problem edit your pics before you upload them to photobucket. click on your pic and select edit, then click on strech&scew, a box will come up with horizontal set at 100 and vertical set at 100. set both at lets say 40, click save as. now your 1.2meg picture will be at about 40kb, problem solved! now its under 50kb, forum friendly![:D] uplaod it to photobucket. play with it, sometimes you might have to set both at 30, or whatever, just try to stay under 50kb. hope this helps.[:)]

Thanks. I think I got 'em fixed.

My problem was I accidently kept resizing too small somehow, but I figured it out.

Yeah, it started out as an unpainted OMI. Whomever had it prior to me had it painted in a MoPac scheme and a decoder installed. I was never too terribly fond of the paint job. I happened to have a bunch of extra detail parts around and wanted to add a mini tunnel motor in a "what could have been" SP scheme. So we'll see how it turns out later on down the road.

Hey, TrainFreak409!

I see you got the Pennsy DD40AX you mentioned a while back. Looks great with that nice, long consist!

Hope you didn't mind the joking about Pennsy not having any DD40AX's! LOL

You did good!

Realising I'd never taken any black and white photos of my British outline 'Double O' layout, Hudson Road, I decided to rectify the omission. Here's some quickly snapped-off piccies without rolling stock of any kind.

And a couple of colour ones for good measure

Great pics. I loved the winter scenes. I haven't the courage to try that yet. I have been back at trees. I was after something a little less bushy and this was this weeks efforts. I used weeds from a craft store and tiny bits of WS tree material. You can see the more traditional WS trees in the background.

Also worked on control panel. Here are the Humpyard switch levers. I think I will be a fan.

Grandson coming over to try our hand at water and a falls. That ought to be an experience. Been planning to do this for 55 years and just now getting around to it.

Great pix everyone! Gosh you guys [jon and art] are going seasonal on me, I'm not sure I could ever measure up to that. Perhaps if I get some latexing done on my otherwise-bare layout surface today, maybe even I will have some photos to contribute here.

Joey, as Aggro was saying, weathering is nothing to be afraid of - I just recently started doing it myself on my own diesels and discovered it's not that difficult. I used an airbrush with heavily watered-down [PollyScale] Reefer White for fading/bleaching, Grimy Black for soot along the top, and Roof Brown for grunge on the pilots:

End view - AFTER

Nothing "professional" I realize, but a major improvement over the "just-delivered" look.[:D]

Arthill, nice fall trees
Joey, i have the same gut feeling about weathering my GP20[:0]

Here's my latest tram project - this is a Corgi diecast model of a Blackpool "Balloon" double-decker which I've motorised using a couple of BEC power trucks.

And the underside - the whitemetal lumps are a couple of 10g fishing weights I added in an effort to cut down any possible wobbling (there's a lot of weight above the truck pivots and not much below them, so it was a little top heavy).
