BLI SP Cab Forward
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 14, 2005 10:32 AM
I have one of these units and the detail and sound is outstanding. The operation of the unit is something else. I have tried to post a letter to the editor in MR about this company, to no avail. I have made three attempts to contact BLI and all have been ignored. The trailing engine does not sit flat on the track and as a result when you operate in reverse the lead axel rides up on the rails and vola you are derailed. For the price of this locomotive it should operate in both directions and the company should stand behing their product. I would be very careful to only purchase their products at a Hobby Store where you can be assured that it will operate correctly, because they don't stand behind their products.

Sounds like the trailing truck may have gotten bent a little somewhere along the line. It isn't that difficult to rebend it if it isn't sitting flat. It probably doesn't even need to be removed from the engine and might just solve your problem. Containers get handled pretty roughly and some individual boxes get dropped causing minor damage at times.

I've tried bending the trailing truck and that appears not to be the issue. It is on the lead end of the trailing engine and I'm reticent do fool with in fear that I will create a bigger pile of junk. Thanks for the idea though.

I can certainly sense your frustration. Fortunately for me, I had good results, and very fast service back 6 months ago when I broke my Hudson. I used e-mail, and they replied quickly.

Maybe persist, and keep the lid on the temper (not suggesting you have blown up at them, but keep it cool and they will do right by you). Keep trying. They usually do well, so you're the guy who gets the runaround...for now. Sorry.

Have you tried calling them on a genuine telephone? You know, that old fashoned device where you may have to pay to talk to someone, but the people on the other end figure people are serious and answer it? (If so, I apologise for the sarcasm) I have never tried to call them myself that they did not answer. I have several of their engines and have had no problems. Finally, if you have yet to speak to them, how do you know they do not stand behind their product? I am sure you have their new Florida addresses and numbers.
What could have happened.... did.
