Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 13, 2005 10:43 PM
The Garden State Central Model Railroad Club of Asbury Park, NJ will be holding it’s 42nd annual open house October 21, 22 & 23 and October 28, 29 & 30, 2005. Hours are Friday 7-9 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday 1-5 p.m. The cub’s large HO scale layout is located at 607 8th Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ.

All ages are welcome, and the kids will love it!

Visit the club’s website for directions and donation suggestion: http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/6611/

The GSC layout, which features scenes from the Lehigh Valley, Jersey Central, Lackawanna, Philadelphia, Bethlehem & New England and Laurel Line railroads was recently seen on the cover of Railroad Model Craftsman in September 2005 as part of club president Rob Davis’ kitbashed CNJ 2-8-2 article. The locomotive from the article will be on display at the club.

Highlights of the layout (from east to west) include:

- CNJ Communipaw passenger terminal - cardstock, digitally enhanced model under construction

- working model of the CNJ’s Pier 18 McMyler car dumping machine and kick-back track

- waterfront scene featuring railroad marine models

- Easton on the Lehigh Valley

- Bethlehem steel mill - scratchbuilt model under construction

- downtown Allentown, PA

- working model of the Huber anthracite colliery in Ashley, PA under construction (early stages, we're still getting the car loading mechanism right)

- Nay Aug tunnels in Scranton, PA

- downtown Scranton under construction

- the Laurel Line 3rd-rail interurban

Come on down and enjoy the trains!
