MR snubbs Baldwin

I got my November issue of Model Railroader the other day and got to the article on the "Modeler's guide to passenger diesels" to my suprise no Baldwin Locomotive Works Diesels are listed. They left out one entire builder! I know, I know, not many manufactures have made plastic models of Baldwins but at least mention Stewart Hobbies HO scale models. I also read awhile ago that someone is going to produce a resin model of a Baldwin BP-20, the best looking passenger diesel ever made. If you model the Pennsylvania Railroad the BP-20 is a must have Baldwin. I model HO scale , I don't know whats out there for other scales.

They may not have been the most reliable or numerous diesels on rails, but neither were Fairbanks-Morse and we have many models of them. And yes I fill out the cards when I buy a new piece of equipment, the especially the ones with the line "suggestions".

Let's not give MR a hard time for what they left out or did not include in any given article.

If they needed to include every thing related to a subject we would be getting an issue bigger than walthers catalog maybe twice a year instead of once a month.

Remember, Kalmbach might still be "Sensitive" after the recent problems in this forums.

i myself think the ONLY good looking passenger engine Baldwin ever made was the sharks. honestly, the sharks are in the top 3 of my favorite passenger engines[:D]. thing is though, none of the roads i model had them, thus, i have none[:(]. there were few made, eastern roads had some but alot of them ended up in mexico if i remember right.[%-)]

Sharks were run in frt (new) by PRR, NYC, B&O w/ EJ&E having a 4 unit set of demonstraters that they fobbed of on somebody first chance they got. The mongahela (help! can some of you west Pa guys correct that spelling?) and D&H had 2 A units in a faux Warbonnet scheme. For psgr units it was PRR and nobody else. But they were among the best looking units going (when they went). Can't beat that Rayond Lowey!

The Monongahela RR had quite a few RF16s up until about '74, when the last 2 were sold for scrap. D&H bought them both and repainted them. The last I heard, both were up in Michican somewhere...with cracked frames. That's a shame, since they'd pull some *serious* railfan crowds if they ran again :)

They included the H15-44 and the H24-66 but excluded the GP7 , RS3, AS16, all were sold as passenger units.
