I just noticed on the reply to message page a note at the bottom stating there is a 100 charcter limit on replies. Is this something new? Is this an attempt to eliminate long winded replies to topics?

Just wondering.

BTW....I just noticed that it also says "Topic Subjects are limited to 100 characters in length."

I guess if you are trying to explain something such as painting that requires a long reply (again thanks AntonioFP45), just do several replies. Hopefully it will keep the rambling flame wars down.

Hi,
The 100-character limit is for the "Subject", not the replies.

Hope this helps.

I only recently join this forum, so I don't know how much trouble there's been in the past with Trolls, but I think restricting posters to 100 characters per reply is a bit drackonian. Aren't forums supposed to be about communication? And does that really help slowing Trolls downs? Isn't trolling about instant gratification? I think initiating a 6, 12 or 24 hour delay in the registration process would be much more effective. It took almost 24 hours to register on that other site over the weekend and I never got around to posting anything.

I was, frankly, surprised that the MR forum didn't filter out the cuss words that were used in that post that caused all the trouble.

And just what is wrong with long winded replies on a forum like this? Short replies certainly makes sense with something like instant messaging or something like that. In the forum index it does say "General Discussion" and aren't discussions often long winded?

I just checked the reply page. It says "Reply Subjects are Limited to 100 Characters in length" It applied only to the subject line. Because if it were the main body I doubt I would be able to write this, Becasue this page is exactly 253 Charactes Long

Stop!... You guys are making my head hurt. Besides, most of you know good and well I can't count past ten. Poor old SpaceMouse is even worse than me and can't get past one.
