Asking Paint Shop...
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 11:18 PM
I'm doing some studying of the Western Pacific so that I can paint accurate models and I have a few questions.
First, I've noticed that somewhere in the 60's, WP switched from black lettering to white. It seems to be in between orders for it's GP35's. The first order, delivered in '63-'64 had black lettering, while the second that arrived in '66 had white. It looks like all the GP40s and U30Bs had white lettering also.
Second, at what time did WP start painting more of the nose with black antiglare paint? Early photos I've seen look to just have the top of the short hood painted, while later photos have the black paint curving down to the top of the safety stripes. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
