What's your favorite modern diesel made after 1990 ?.

Mine is the 8-40 CW Dash like those I see around my area so much.

It would probably be the SD70ACe or the SD90MAC.

A 60 ton ALCO-GE-IR. And, yes, this is modern when compared to my 1870-1900 steam locomotives.

I'll have to agree with several others and say the SD90MAC. Although, the SD70MACs in the BN Green & Cream paint would be a close second.

This reply was kind of uncalled for and disrespectful to the others that are into diesels, but you are entitled to your opinion.

An Alco S1 switcher...at least it's "modern" for my layout era. I think Proto 2000 came out with it in 2001. [:)]

I like 1st and 2nd generation diesels like the E7, U36B, SD40-2 and FP45.

However if I had to choose a modern locomotive, it would be the SD75M.

To me it's a very attractive looking unit with raw, gut wrenching pulling power. (Plus, that nose reminds me of the FP45 cowls.) It's neat to see a group of these blast by at 60 mph+ with a long intermodal train!

Peace and Roger that.

I saw the [;)] in it, but sometimes people get a little ruffled, I try to use the smilies to convey the feelings since the printed word can be a little sterile, now with that sad, steam is all hot air!!! [:D]

I'll take the SD80MAC. Probably my all around favorite diesel along with the SD50 and the FP45. EMD's rule!

GearDrivenSteam, you might want to try not putting foul language in you're posts, like D word #2 in one of your posts here. Foul language isn't permited on this website. Just thought I'd let you know before you post anymore words like that.[:)]

I like the song "Get Over It" too![:D] Nice to see another Eagles fan here![:)]

Gear Driven Steam,

Sorry guy! I now understand the joke. I edited my previous reply to you as well.

In these hard times, we need all the humor we can get!

Cheers!
