Daniel, get some prototype pics and decide what your model is lacking. Most anything you'll need should be available. Engine House Hobbies in Wichita has a large stock of detail parts to choose from.

I'd get a picture of the specific prototype before you plunge in. Each railroad had different details. Things like speed recorders, fuel fillers, etc are probably the same but things like lights, horns, ditch lights, antennae, winterization hatches, and such are unique to the RR or even the loco.

If you are basing your locos off of the WC, then it will depend on where they got their locos, Soo Line, Milwaukee Road all had their own practices.

Check out Details West, they have 3 different GP30 detail sets.
1 each for DRGW, BN/GN and SP/SSW.
Part numbers 235-281, 235-282 & 235-283 respectfully.

Well that leaves a lot open to your interpretation of your railroads givens and druthers..
The question that comes readily to my mind was these GP30s bought new or use by the Archer Grain?? If bought use then from what railroad? Answer that question then we can supply some suggestions.[:D]
