Brand Specific Model Cement

I am planning to build a Pola model (H0 671 Coal Bunker) Like many other kits, the directions recommend the specific Pola brand cement (Polafix Professional). This will be my first Pola brand kit. Does anyone have experience with Pola and their brand cement or is this just sales/brand hype? Will Testors or another similar brand cement for plastic models yield the same results. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello kpeter03,
When I was a kid way back in the 20th century, oh, about 1971, we used plain ol' Testors to assemble Pola kits. Worked just fine. Make sure you purchase the liquid cement though, not the kind that comes in a tube.
Tenax 7R liquid cement works well too and doesn't have a strong odor.
Hope this helps,
Paul Schmidt

I have built a number of Pola kits in the past and I used testors on every one of them. Be sure to use the liquid cement and not the stuff in the tube. The stuff in the tube is a lot messier, at least it has been for me. Good luck.

The Testors should work fine. I have found lately that I am using CA to assemble more and more of my kits because the bonds seem more durable.

About 10 years ago, I was using a brand called "K-Lux", I have not seen this stuff around in a LONG time, but it was the best that I'd ever used. I think it was marketed for bonding "Plexi-glas" as that was what it stated on the label. Fast and strong, it was my favorite. Alas, I have not been able to find it in years. If anyone knows if, and where it is available, please let us know.
