SoundTraxx decoders and speakers for N scale engin

Hello ALL
I am looking for anyone with experience in dealing with the SoundTraxx digital decoders and speaker placement for N scale engines. Please tell me what DCC system you operate, what make and model engine you have, and any tid-bits you'd like to add. I would like to know how clear the sound is, how far away you can hear the sound, etc.
