Tom, that's a fantastic RR you've got there! I always look forward to your pics. Why did you have to build the thing across the country from me? [:D] I bet it's even better in person.

I know what you mean about the camera. I borrowed a very nice digital Sony from a buddy but can't seem to make it perform the way he does (he used to be into photography seriously). I'm experimenting with smaller apertures/longer exposures and am getting much better results than with my cheapie Sony cybershot but I still have plenty of learning to do.

Think it's time I visited Best Buy and explain to the people there that I didn't buy the camera to take snapshots of Aunt Ethel at her 107th Birthday party, LOL! Maybe I can get something that will help me take in-focus closeups like yours. Now I know why you and Aggro have such warm lighting in your photos--you guys are in a room, and I'm in a garage.

Coal train, I see your work over on the Atlas forum and it just looks better every time I look at it!

Here's a few projects that I'm working on:

I just finished the rockwork around the mine site and had to add a few trees and pose a train. All the mine has right now it the ore hopper and a shaft going into the mountain side, I still have to build the platform and roof going to the ore hopper.


Heres the other project that I just finished. Its an athearn F-7 that I pieced together from spare parts in my surplus athearn box. It's for a friend who's just getting into model railroading and needed a reliable and cheap engine. I added a winter hatchand windows. All the grab irons were bent out of piano wire (trust me use brass!) . the paint and railroad was his idea and I did the best I could with it.

Now that all the plywood is down I have started on risers. I glued the pieces of the risers together first so I get a smooth curve. This is about a 40" radius going up a 2% grade. I would have done more but this is all the bricks I could find.

That's where it comes from... all of the Scenic Cement in the world comes
from my layout. It's really hard to keep up with the demand... an HO scale
tank car only holds so much. [:)] Dave
