Company downsizing eliminated my position and 30 year career in technical sales, engineering and management of process systems for food, dairy,beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial markets. Out of work for the last four months, to young to retire. Plan is to stay in Western New York area.

I work in a cryogenics plant in Pasadena Texas....work at the water plant section...click a mouse all day to control the plant and run water tests for purity...and just think...retirement is only 8 years away!....Chuck

My baby brother Rob was in the gifted program in high school. Dad was so proud he took him to see his buddies at work and told them all Rob was in the special classes. We finally got Dad to understand the difference in Gifted and Special.

My title depends on who the company is billing for my time. Last I saw, I was called "Aviation Specialist." I've been called "Senior Systems Engineer", "Air Traffic Control Subject Matter Expert", and several other less elaborate things with four letters that might get me banished from these boards. Even dabbled in Program Management, but couldn't stand the bureaucracy.

My niche is that I know Air Traffic Control (8 years with the FAA as a controller), know how computer systems are supposed to work, and work on projects that combine the two.

Given the current state of the FAA and the airline industry, no wonder I like trains!

What I do now will probably not be my career forever. Its just something close to where I live and the work isnt all that bad. I work in the Meat Department for Economizer IGA in Lake Panasoffkee. It's just a little store that is well known for its quality meat. It's just a job for the time being. I'm just 18 and I just graduated so it's just temporary.

A young and vigorous 36 (ancient, according to my kids!).
Here's a new job for the list: cab driver, night shift, 10 years.

I'm the resident "train guy" at the cab company and I've been asked to give metered tours of the local (and not-so-local) railroad sites of interest. It's great when you can bring your hobby to work or in this case bring your work to your hobby.

It's also a great way to chase trains when you're new to the city, I've done it myself when on vacation. Just ask for a driver who loves trains, there's always one, at least, and they can show you things you might never find on your own.

I'm an 18 year old, soon to be 19, college freshman. I work for the school district I just graduated from as a summer custodian. They hire 3 graduates to work at each of the 3 buildings in the district during the summer.

I'm going to school for marketing and business administration. Hopefully I''ll find a job after that in the front office of a sports team. After about 2-3 years at WSU I plan to transfer to UW- Madison for sports marketing. If anything I'd gladly come back to the town/area I live in right now and find a job with a local company, hopefully.

We'll see though, being only 18 a lot can change quickly.
