Danny;
First please stop SHOUTING, all CAPS is SHOUTING.
A Tiger Valley Model kit would be better.

If you want to go the shortening route, use an Atlas C425 chassis.
Some of the M6xx trucks are very short wheel base, almost like an RSC2. Compare and scale from photographs.
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California

I agree with Nigel go the tiger valley route,the chop shop method is fine but will be allot of work. Tiger valley also made /makes proper dofasco trucks which come woth their m630 /636 kits. You used to be able to buy them separatly as well. The ge truck isn't very close. You could use it in a pinch though. I suppose it will depend on how prototypical you want to get. Rob

I was always told that it's your railroad, so you can do anything you want. But I can understand that YOU WANT TO BE PROTOTYPICAL !...
Good luck to you.

It is my understanding that the U-28B is a General Electric engine, and the Century is an Alco. I don't see how you can mate two different manufacturers with proper results.

Some of the GE's and EMD rode on Alco trucks off the units that were traded in on them.I am sure someone else on here can go into more detail as to way this was done.
