It's a really shorty Geep. Totally un-prototypical, but they are, dare I say, cute.

I've thus far resisted buying a Reading one, plus 3-4 hoppers and a caboose, and a loop of track. I don;t need more scales and gauges, HO is plenty.

Don't say that too load! That's a fairly accurate description of some of the early GE switch engines.

Have fun

Are we talking critter size or somewhere between critter and geep. Do you happen to have a link?

The Coyote's been after the beep beep (Road Runner) since I was a kid, but still hasn't caught him yet... Sorry, couldn't resist.

Always glad to hear a fellow railroad's found something he's pleased with.

BEEPs come in an almost infinite variety. Any real railroad you can think of, plus crazy stufflike halloween and christmas.

It's like a cross between a Critter and a GP-7. Incredibly, they have DUAL MOTORS!

You know, would it kill anyone to split the forums up by scale? The Beeps are cute, but the HO and N guys have to be going "huh?"

Now that I've seen the picture, I do in fact remember this type engine, though I haven't seen one since I was a kid. We use to refer to them as "brick" engines because they looked like a brick... Thanks for the memories.

Somone may have made such a thing years ago, but the Beeps are brand new. The company that makes them is local to me, and sometimes sets up at local train shows with a loop of track and one running around. Dual can motors and an electronic E-unit. They have a good supply at my LHS too.

Not ENTIRELY true, there was one episode where Wiley caught the Roadrunner. Only problem was that he was about 1" tall at the time. [:D][:D]

Beep, beep, indeed. Speaking of cartoons, it looks like a Geep that got hit with a 14t safe.

I'd buy one if I could - pity the import duty and shipping would probably double the price! Wonder if a UK-based company would be interested in importing them?

They're real in the sense that if you kick them they'll go flying...

But if you are asking if they have a prototype, well, no.

A non-prototype engine for the non prototype-curved layout's.
(Makes sense to me).

I don't have one yet, although it's on the agenda for future purposes.

By the way, in response to the person who said that they're new, that's not entirely true. They were first made by a company called Kusan in the 1950s as part of their two rail O gauge toy line. These were very, very cheaply made and ran poorly. In the 1980s, Williams(still around today) started making them again in a three rail version that ran very poorly as well. In the late 1990s, the detailing was upgraded to what you see today(separate wire handrails, etc.) and mounted on the bed of a toy truck with the Lionel name printed on it. An upgraded power chassis was made available with two can motors that ran very well. This upgraded shell and power chassis are what you buy today when you buy a Beep.

Well, I don't quite know how they reproduce, but this is proof of either evolution or mutation, eh? Hey, if it works, run it!

Beeps are very good locomotives, and well-worth the $50 price tag. They may not be prototypical, but they are something. They may be small, but they have some pep to them. I had one pulling five or six RailKing cars around the shop's layout. We had seven or eight of them come and go. They are quite a hit. Have fun with it.
