Hi my dad models the 50s Northwestern, and I model the modern UP (sorry, but I like it)
And I too like the CNW. I have seen several patched but unpainted SD40-2s, and a patched but unpainted Dash8...

About the UP modeling thing... Yeah, I can tell you guys are getting angry... Yeah, I'll leave..[B)][B)][B)][B)] -

[B)]- Me if I don't get out of here fast...Better hop in my big yellow diesel and ride away...... FAST!

Hail to the "400" [bow]

How about that cover on the recent NWL. You may not know this but the pic was used in a excellent brochure and was the artwork used on the 1942 wall calendar.

My stepfather got me hooked on trains and I will never forget the chance we had to stop into the NW Terminal in the late 70's. What a vision.

Today, my MR is based on our original road, the B&M (Bryan and Mark). Its is a subsidiary of the C&NW, the BM&J. We interchange with the NW at Bryant, WI. The line runs south to Mark, IL where we interchange again for access into CHI. The line continues south to Jules (my wife), IL then to Jacob (my son), IL. Access is granted into STL via our crossing of the L&M. The continues to our southern termination at Kate (my daughter), AR where we have an agreement with the MP into Memphis. We have been busy with acquisitions lately but have finally gotten the bugs worked out should have trains rolling again soon.

If anyone out there has a size 7 or 7-1/8 CNW conductors hat they want to part with, email me, please.

Also, if anyone is looking for HO power or cabeese, email me. I still have not finished my conversion from HO to N and have a small fleet to deal with.

i like C&NW although i don't model it. i wish Union Pacific didn't buy it . i'd have rather seen BNSF buy it. i also can't believe there are only 3 loco's in C&NW paint-by the way i HATE U.P.
here's a C&NW link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_and_North_Western_Railway

I am a CNW fan and wi***here had been more movies taken of CNW passenger trains. When you go through the various sources there are many more films per railroad on the other lines.

I know there are some but not as many as you would expect for such a colorful road.

OK Carl and gang, here are the 1974-vintage slides I told you about. But don't get your expectations too high - these sat in my stepmother's basement for 30+ years and are showing the ravages of heat, cold and mildew. And I was only 19 years old, with a camera that you could only guess about the image being in focus (most of these are not, unfortunately). So for what it's worth, I have put links to them here so that our bandwidth-challenged friends don't have to wait until morning for them all to download:

C&NW E8 5029B
C&NW BiLevel 183
C&NW BiLevel 198
C&NW E8 5027A
C&NW FP7 414
C&NW SD40 928

I think they were U.P. B units that were rebuilt with a cab. They were used on the push-pull commuter trains. I assume that the CNW needed some more locos for their commuter trains and these were a cheap way of getting some. Perhaps others know more details.

My son is a diehard C&NW fan! He is ten years old, born after the C&NW was taken from us by Uncle Pete.We bought our house back in September after renting it for 4 1/2 years. We're in the process now of framing and insulating the basement walls and will be carpeting the floors soon after that's done.Next year I plan to start buying locomotives for our layout. My son's favorite locomotives are the GE's in the ZZ Top scheme.I'm a Soo Line fan myself. We won't have any particular era on our layout. It will range from 1984 to 1995.

We used to spend quite a lot of time down at Beverly yard watching the CNW GP7's,9's and MP15's switch and look for mainline units in the trains. Now we plan to just run our models to watch these in action along with SOO red and white units.

Have a good one.

At the moment I'm running C&NW locos on my layout. I'm basically a CN and CP modeler, but I couldn't resist buying a few locos in the C&NW green and yellow. I've got two S-2s, two RS-3s , and three C-628s. I model the mid-1970s, so I chose locos that were in the proper paint scheme for that era. They are the darker yellow with green cabs and no stripes on either end.

Hey fellow fans,
I notice that most of you are diesel era moddlers. Are there any of you that are in steam? I would sure like to have a C&NW Atlantic in HO, or at least some pictures of some.

I have a RTR AC4400 too. Mine has something wrong with the motor as it makes the most HORRIBLE grinding noise until it runs for a while. Now BOTH of the wires that pick up electrical from the track are broke so it doesn't run. What roadname is yours? Mine is the BNSF "new logo". Also i suddenly became a huge C&NW fan a few days ago[:D]
i'd like to get these some day

and maybe this- BUT MR reviewed it and it only pulls 19 cars(on straight, level tack)
