Bachman 3 truck Shay problem
Posted by tigerstripe on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 10:36 PM
I just got a 3 truck Shay as soon as its placed on the track my contoller shows a hard short. I am sure it is not a problem with the controller or layout wiring as all the other loco's work fine. I have removed the trucks one at a time, and checked to make sure the PC board in the water tender is not touching the frame. I don't see any obvious problem.
So this question goes out to all you loggerheads, any ideas?
I have written Bachman service but have not recieved a reply yet.

It sounds like you might have to send it back to Bachmann for repair. I have three of these models and have had absolutely no problems with any of them.

If you do decide to send it to Bachmann for warranty repair, they will probably just send you a new one. Three members of our local club who have sent Bachmann products back for warranty repair have received new locomotives. I don't think Bachmann really tries to repair anything, because it's seems to be cheaper for them to send a replacement instead of having to stock parts and pay repair personnel.
