Well, now that i have a map of my layout, i cant seem to find any good overhead photos or images of Norfork Southern's Norris yard in Irondale, AL. If anyone can help me out id be very thankful. I just need some overhead shots that can show me what all i need to incorporate into the yard. Thanks

I'd go over and snap you a few pics but, knowing NS "security" you'd have to make bail for me. They aren't as friendly as the guys at CSX in my experience. Don't know of any arial photos but it is a big yard. If you're modeling it in the present, there's a highway overpass on one end and the Whistle Stop on the other (Irondale). The Whistle Stop was in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes".

go to maps.google.com and type in the nearest road. Let it load and then in the upper right hand corner click on "Satellite". Then zoom to the highest level and you should be able to find it from there. I have done this around Macon to great results. I can tell where almost all the tracks run to and can see turnouts and all kinds of stuff. Hope this helps.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Irondale,+AL&ll=33.543588,-86.701741&spn=0.003144,0.004828&t=k&hl=en
I found the yard and I can see a maintenance building and another large white one, but no depot that I can tell of.
