Making a LA area layout with the SP & ATSF lines across the valley, near the river, specifically Valley Blvd. and Puente Ave. Unfortunately, I moved from my childhood home, lived all over the LA area, last near the Los Angles River and Long Beach Freeway, where my first site out the north facing kitchen window was Mt. Wilson from near Imperial Highway/Century Freeway. From Puente avenue the view is closer to the mts., and we could see Mt. Baldy to the NE and LA City Hall to the west. Although '55-57 time is modeled, the outline of the Sierra Madres and beyond was pretty unchanged, but after living in Monrovia, where Mt. Wilson was overwhelming. So...
Does anyone know/have pictures showing the mountains from about where I want the scene to show from? If I could see the hills and mountains in the LA area, I was never lost, or could find where II was. jpg or link appreciated.
In this part of Illinois, the closest thing to hills are the bluffs near the river, or old coal mining slag heaps shaped like cones. :) Something I've not seen modeled yet in IL. Thanks, Tom
