No, it is my understanding that if you post somthing, then delete that post that it stays at the top

I just go in an "edit" any of my posts in the thread . That takes it back to the top without the bump post

Gumby4 - It's been asked before so apparently not. I just go in and edit one of my posts here every day or so.

Well just editing an old post no longer seems to bring it back to the top.  Bummer. So......

The links here are unfortunately no-longer useful. None of them work anymore.Sad [:(] We might have to make a new topic to replace this one, and possibly locate some of the old topics mentioned here.Big Smile [:D]

Unfortunately, we need to retitle this thread:

Useless compilation of widely useful threads. Dead [xx(]

I did some research to see if there was an algorithm to convert old forum post numbers to new message ids, as in:

The old post URL ...
http://www.trains.com/ ... /showtopic=32122

and the new post URL on the updated forum is ...
http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/412365/ShowPost.aspx

But alas there is no correlation because all the previous Kalmbach forums have now been munged together so if you type some other number in place of 412365 above, you can end up in the Classic Trains forum or the Garden Railways forum. Bummer. Black Eye [B)]

Yep, I used to run that hack trick too on the old site. But now this new site will take some time to learn all the new tricks..

Very disapointing to read about the old/new forum post numbering problem as this was an excellent source of information in the "good old days".

Be that as it may, Jon Grant has an excellent "new" posting on weathering with acrylic paints at Topic # 916813.

That's why I re-made this topic shortly after the forum software change. It was a great source of information.

The one I made has new links to some of the topics listed in this thread, as well as a couple new ones. I don't understand why it died twice...

It would be nice if Bergie would make this a sticky. And then allow some one to remove the useless messages, such as this one. Just keeping the links.

Homemade HO light poles. You really have to check this out.

After Tstage posted that one , I went on to make a lot of lights for my layout. It really was easy, effective , and they came out looking great.

I have added many of the featured threads listed in this thread to my own website with hyperlinks. I will continue to update my web page as I find more of the gems on this forum and others.
