I think Chinese Women are driving my son's train

No, I don't think it is a communist plot. And don't send the sex police just yet.

But I just looked at figures in the cab of my son's Spectrum 2-8-0 with a good light and a magnifying glass. Both engineers have blue jump suits and squared off blue military hats and look like they just marched into Hogwarts Freight and Ferry from TianAnMen Square.

I'm not saying they did it on purpose, just that if you were a Chinese woman with a paint brush in a sweat shop and you were supposed to paint a 1920's American...well think of it his way. You have a generic figure in your hand and someone told you to paint a 1920's Chinese Woman Fruit vendor. It just might look a little Americani***o a Chinese woman.

I wouldn't worry too much. Ten years from now your son (if he is anything like me) will be MORE than happy to have ANY woman "drive his train".

Actually they only built some of the railroads, and then only in the West--just about every ethnic group can claim some of the credit for building American railroads.

It could be worse - I saw an article over here a while ago where they superdetailed a RTR Bachmann steamer (including fitting a crew) but the figures weren't too good - the painting was fine and in the correct (ish) colours, but the castings had a minor problem - the fireman appeared to have legs that were completely out of proportion to his body (either that or he was wearing very low-slung trousers)! The overall effect was most odd, especially as they were obviously very proud of their work (rightly so - it looked as good as a professionally-built kit after they'd finished) but made one small error.

it may be a sign of the future anyway...a lot of American companies are putting their employees in uniforms...we went to them 3 years ago..for 18 years we were in pocket T-shirts and jeans but now we have to wear nomex flame retardant jump suits with a BIG sticker of the company logo on it and they're hot in the summer and cold in the winter...i look like a gas station attendant now...the railroads will probably be next to put uniforms on their employees..chuck

I noticed Woodland Scenics has women in their factory workers set. Well, at least one for sure, a couple of others are questionable.

I agree with the assessment that one of them is a women, I also think that one of them might also be a woman in that set. Hmmm.

I would not worry about women driving your son's train, if I think that the Chinese factory workers have a chance to put a chinese stamp on American stuff that would be one way to do it.

Ultimately I agree with roadtrp, I am betting in less than 10 years your son perhaps will discover the joys (And the agony) of women.

There is always a bunch of engineers and firemen figures in the hobby. If women in the cab are TOO chinese, I would probably snap a few of the "Regulars" in the cab with the red bandannas and striped caps.

The person in the white is questionable, as well as the person in the green shirt. I do know women that look like that though!

And what's up with the guy in the green uniform sitting on the ground? Is he sniffing the other guys rear?
I've noticed a lot of "worker" figures look like they're just hanging out or screwing off on the job. Just like real life!
