Weekend Photo Fun
Posted by AggroJones on Saturday, April 16, 2005 12:29 AM
Chip had the idea of making it Weekend Photo Fun opposed to just Sunday. "Sunday Photo Fun" was started by juby4life last year, I think. I simply was the dude that carried it on.
So from now on, it will be Weekend Photo fun to allow a longer period of exposure. [tup]

The heavy mountain flys by with a mixed freight on the high line, while this AC-5 starts a reefer block out of Dante Yard.

The track underneath this Mallet has been re-ballasted since the photo was taken.

A 2-8-2 Mike receives water and fuel on the steam servicing track. Just to the left is the newest addition to the small servicing facility: A Fairbanks-Morse automatic Coaling tower.

LOL! I meant it as a joke because people were posting earlier and earlier and Sunday was becoming Saturday. I always work all weekend and post late Saturday night what I got done. I'll still post Sunday night. If you guys aren't bored with looking at these things stop back and see what meager things I got done.

Aggro,

I really like the composition of the first photo. I don't know if it was planned, but the contrast between the engine and the open slats on the wooden car is quite striking. Even the ATSF car adds to that--an effect that might have been diminished had the car been weathered.

Something a little different:

This is my friend Walt cutting cork roabed for my layout.

The first train into Laurel, MT about a year ago. The train is on the super-elevated curve on the mainline. Since then, the passing siding and the two yard tracks have been added. Engine servicing area still to come. This will look a LOT better when scenery is finally done!

This is bugging me. How do you set up your pics to zoom in or get larger when you double-click on them? Seems everyone elses pics do that but mine.

Now, I can do this manually be right clicking the photo and clicking "View Image" to increase the size but I would prefer to just be able to double-click the photo to accompli***hat. Is that something that I need to do at the host address site?

Thanks [:)]

Tom I'm asking the same question on a separate post and I just used yours as an example. There seems to be a vertical size limitation.

Tom, nice detailing on the water tower. I haven't found that many kits that look that good. (And I like the coaling tower. It's a nice change from usual bohemoth size structures. How are you going to weather it?)

Aggro, I would kill for some of your skills and space. Okay maybe not kill, but definitely hold hostage until I learn some of those secrets. (Why can I see my wife shaking her head, and a restraining order in my future?) [:D] *okay JOKING*

okay here it is, my first models in like 20 years. I had these done in January, but this is the first chance I've had to actually post them.

[img.nr]http://home.comcast.net/~XNetTrain/train1.jpg[/img.nr]

I replaced the wheels with intermountain wheelsets and blackend them. I also replaced the queen post on top with actual metal ones.

Don,

Thanks. On weathering the coaling tower, I don't know yet. I admit I have been hesitant about weathering anything before I do some serious study on the matter. I did practice putting rust streaks on an inexpensive Athearn tanker. (That didn't hurt much since it was only a $6 kit.) I want to make sure I have a good handle on what I am doing before tackling the likes of the coaling tower.

On your picture - nice! Don, I'm just guessing: The hopper looks like an Accurail. (I like their paint jobs because they isn't too glossy.) Who made the caboose? Atlas?

Tom:
I believe your photos have to be larger Horizontal (landscape) and not Vertical (Portrait)

Everyone:
Very nice work everyone. Aggro, your photos show an outstanding talent for landscaping.

Haven't had much of a chance to do anything on the layout this week--not the best week in the world for me. However, since SP does have trackage rights on my Yuba River Sub, thought I'd show you some pics of my new toy. Picked it up at Bruce's Trains this afternoon before Mass, it's a Sunset "Prestige" SP MT-5 with directional headlights. Ain't she a purty lil' thang, though?

Very nice pics everyone.

I have been dabbling with a Rail Yard HO Mopac Caboose kit for the past few days.

Here's what I've got done so far, although I took a wrong turn on page 2 of the instructions.

Jonathon,
I have an image to 'complement' yours. It's something I had reserved at my LHS but was unable to pickup until Friday (payday). Not my own handiwork obviously, but I'm still very pleased to have actually acquired it:

To make sure credit is given where it is due, I drug Sunday Photo Fun over from the Atlas forum went it was shut down last summer and of whom Sprink is the host and creator as far as I know. I stopped as summer is my busiest time of the year work wise. Anyway here are my latest projects. New Rock paint scheme.

Boy, when you start on Saturday and post on Sunday Night you have to back quite a few pages to find the thread to post your work.

Here is Sparky, the latest edition to the Hogwarts Freight and Ferry fleet.
