BNSF colors
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 5:13 PM
I would like to know what the actual color names are for the BNSF color schemes. All of the places i have looked tell me the scheme name but not the names of the colors that it comprises. I would like to know so I can paint (air brush) all of my non BNSF locos to fit the color schemes. Thanx

I believe the orange on the "pumpkin" units is Omaha Orange, also known as Great Northern Orange. The dark green may be Pullman Green. Check the Northern Pacific Historical Society to be sure. On the "Heritage II" units I believe it's the same orange.
The units in still in Santa Fe livery are obviously the Santa Fe's blue and yellow or Warbonnet Red and Silver. That's the extent of my knowledge. I'm sure there are others on this forum who can be of more help. You might also do a Google search for Friends of the Burlington Northern and check out some of the links.

Cheers,

Ed
