O scale autos?????
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, April 2, 2005 5:52 PM
Does anyone make 1:48 automobiles or anywhere around that scale? A little smaller would be O.K. I need 1920's era or earlier. I have been searching for months. Everything I find is way too modern. I need model T's, etc. I model the roaring 20's in O scale. Thanks!!!![8D]

There are very few true 1/48 scale autos. Most people use 1/43 scale which is a standard diecast scale (and also British O Scale). I have read that some of the cheaper 1/43 cars are not accurately scaled. Often being a little smaller but somtimes slightly larger.

There are trucks in 1/48, 1/50 (probably the most common modern truck scale) and 1/43.

Diecast Direct has one of the largest selections of dicast. Not much listed for 1910's, 1920's though.:

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

You might try building your own from 1/48 scale kits. A well stocked hobby shop should have what you're looking for on hand, or at least close to it.

Good luck.

Unfortunately not likely. I searched several "well stocked" online shops and found none.

The closet to O scale autos are the thousands of 1/43 diecast and a few hundred 1/43 car kits (most unassembles diecast). There are also a few 1/48 scale military trucks (late 30's or newer) There appears to be fewer than a dozen pre 1930 cars currently available.
