Are there any railways running through Vatican City?[:D][:D][:D][;)][angel][%-)]

Just modeling the structures (with complete interior detail of course) would be monumental![(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][^]

Its healthy to praise, respect and remember the good in this world. Mostly we just curse the bad. If we were discussing the particulars of Catholicism, I can see someone objecting. That is a lose-lose situation . Recognizing the good in the world and being thankful for it is a win-win situation. I'm glad we have something good to focus on. I would feel this way if John Paul were Jewish, protestant, Moslem or whatever. This thread will soon pass and those who object to it can happily go back to wallowing in their darkness.

Thank you John Paul II for all you have given the world. Your values and love transcended religious labels. You had a beautiful loving smile and you were as tough as nails. John Paul, you were as brave as a lion and as gentle as a lamb. We loved you because you were the real thing and you loved us.

I'm not a Catholic, and to be honest disagree with quite a bit of its beliefs and probably quite a bit of the John Paul's thoughts. However, I would never question is dedication to what he believed was the way to peace throughout the world and the sacrifices he made throughout is life to achieve this , before and after his becoming Pope. I can and do respect folks like him.

The Head of State of a sovereign nation, Vatican City, has died. A significant player on the world political stage for a quarter century, his life had religious, political, cultural and moral impact. There's nothing wrong, nor specifically religious, with recognizing these truths and reflecting upon them.

And yes, there's even railroading involved:

Political? Look all over this site and you will see threads related to gas prices where you are....since a large part of gas price is tax.....isn't that political???
I'm not a religious person, but I will still mourn the loss of John Paul II as I would of any good person.

I was sorry to see him go but in his passing we get the opportunity to discuss his greatness, and message for all, It gives us a chance to discuss what spirituallity means to each of us. This is a good thing and he would be pleased. After all understanding one anothers point of view is one step closer to peace in the world is it not?

I am a Catholic, but have fallen away from the church lately. Nevertheless, I think it is possible to mourn the death of someone who had a huge impact on our time whether you are religious or not.

Besides, being European I'm sure he rode trains lots of times.

So it is on topic. [:)]

I'm not a Catholic but I was brought up one (in the Jesuit tradition) and it's sad to see him, or any other great man of peace, go.

I just hope the next pope will be as great a guy as this one was. I actually know quite a few of my fellow Buddhists were watching the news of his death closely. It wasn't just Catholics that were pulling for him.

Thanks, Tom, and thanks to Trainluver for being big enough to apologize for what he now feels was objectionable behaviour. Better minds than mine have long since agreed that it takes courage and insight to face one's own shortcomings, even more when done publicly.

Bravo!

Let's stop the backbiting, children. Whether one is religious or not, political or not, is beside the point--a great man has passed from our midst. If for nothing else, please remember him for being one of the main proponents for world peace and one of the major figures responsible for the fall of Communism.

excuse me? I've never brought my religious Views to these forums, I just know how religion can be a polorizing issue. and the mods are very specific when they say "don't post anything Religous or Political".

And i'm not saying the Pope was or wasn't a good man, I've already seen several forums go to Hell, so to speak, over this topic. best to keep it to yourself or to a Religous Dedicated site.

Steamerfan is getting a taste of what trainluver1 did a couple of months ago when he brought up how he felt about religion on the forum... And for those of you that recall that, I want to once again apologize. I was in a bad mood that day, and regret ever opening such a topic. I deserved everything that was thrown at me.

I know it's hard to do, but the best way to deal with members that are negative about things like this is to just ignore them and move on because the more you stir it the worse it gets.

Again, rest in peace John Paul II. I'm going to miss you.

A popular personality of our time has passed, and a little repect for those who mourn him wouldn't kill you.

Please notify the mods. They should know how petty some people can be in a time of sorrow.

this is a lose-lose situation, please do not post religion on this forum, it's against the rules. some will call him a saint, others a demon in sheeps clothing, so best not to refrence any religions here.

I guess it's time to notify the mods.

John Paul II was a man of peace, that reached out to ALL peoples, no matter what their religion. It would be very disheartening to his memory guys, to attack each other on this forum....please, just take a moment, praise this man in your own way, whether on this forum or not. We don't get too many people on this earth, who try so hard to get us to understand each other, and respect each other. He suffered because he wanted to show us the precious gift of life, to the very end. We will all come to this understanding one day, whether you believe it now or not.

I dont beleive in god, nor follow religon. But I do reconize the importance this man had on so many people.

They should have let the poor man die a while ago, he looked like he was suffering.
