Man alive IRONROOSTER!... I know we live in a country that doesn't give into hijackers and alike, but you've got to do something. I say give the chipmunks their *** peanuts and let's put this whole ugly ordeal behind us, and pray it never happens again...

I don't know about anyone else, but I've had some rather bizarre experiences in the past , after I purchased two of the UFO's, from the Walthers Train Catalog. Shhhhh, they may hear us talking about them. One night after I had placed them on my train layout, I heard some strange noises coming from the basement. Upon investigating, I saw these two little characters, dressed in space suits, walking around the layout. They were turning over rocks and leaves and so forth, when suddenly one of them turned to the other and asked, "hey duuuuuude, what arrrre we lookin for?" The other one turned and said, in a very calm voice, " little bitty women". So began the nightly activities of these two. Their activities ranged from raiding the fridge after midnite to trying to abduct our Miniature French Poodle. Thank God our poodle learned to bark in English shortly after we brought her back from France, where we adopted her. I often wonder what bizarre experiments they wanted to run on her. Those two are real sickos. Anyway this went on for the better part of a month, and then those two crazy little farts really did it. One night after the whole family went to bed, I heard the garage door open up and the car start. Out they went, snockered to the gills, for a big night down on the strip. They terrorized half the town, with their wild driving and boozing, before returning around 2:30 or 3:00 in the morning, with a couple of really tiny girls. We heard giggling and some of the most bizarre noises , to date, that night. Those two carried on with the girls till around 6am, before passing out from the booze. When I went down in the basement that morning, I was greeted with a real mess. Beer bottles, an empty little bottle of very good scotch, and something that looked like a small edition of a porn centerfold. I didn't see the girls but those two were stretched out on the park benches in the middle of my HO town, with out so much as a stitch of clothing on. Your imagination could run wild, trying to figure out, what all those two had done that night. I don't even want to know. Anyway, I waited until they had awakend and gone back inside the UFO's, before removing them from the layout. I quickly took them back to the hobby shop where I had bought them, and tried to return them but the store owner didn't want them back. He even tried to pay me to keep them. Hmmmmm, what does he know that I don't? Anyway after much bickering, he finally did take them back, but promptly sold them to someone else who was absolutely fascinated with them. I saw that customer about a week later, and he looked like he had been thru a meat grinder. I was sure I knew why.

A consortium of venture capitalist have agreed to pool their funds and purchase the original C&NW trackage back from the UP. This new company will be run by real railroaders and will run only Steam Locomotives and First Generation Diesels. All railfans will be welcome and cab rides will be regularly given. Passenger service on the original "400" will commence immediately with Dining Cars and Sleepers on all runs. All original depots will be rebuilt from original plans, all Towers returned to their rightful places, and all roundhouses, coal towers and water towers restored.

Hey, I can Dream...

Our resident UP bashers are now out of diapers so the level of discourse will now be at a more mature level.

My Walther's 90 foot turntable worked out of the box. And when I called and told them, they sent a camera crew. One of the camera guys crushed my Cornerstone Baily's Savings and Loan that I am using for Gringott's bank, and they are refusing to pay for it. They said as soon as I kitbashed it the waranty was void. So I step on one of the legs to his strobe set-up and it broke when it hit the floor.

"Karma is Karma, eh?" I said.

A few years ago I built a large extensive garden railroad in my back yard. One day I came home to find it gone. I mean the track and rolling stock just fanished. I chalked it up to some stealing it and reported it to our county sheriff's dept. Anyway we live out in the woods and while walking my dog on day came acroos my track way out in the woods. Well, while standing there trying to figure out what my track was doing out there, my train comes along loaded with hickory nuts. Seems the squirels stole my train to haul thier nuts. Any how I grabbed a couple handsful of nuts, took then home an injected Texas Pete into them and the next day waited and when the train came by I put those laced nuts on the train. I got even, did you ever see a supercharged squirel???

Some ot those are hard to beat!

But do you believe that my track and wheels are self-cleaning and my IHC 4-8-2 can pull 50 cars up a 6% grade on a 15" radius without a helper?

I read on the www.trains.com site that Union Pacific issued a press release saying they were going to refund money to athearn and other manufactures for the rights to its name and symbols....furthermore they apologized for the takeover of SP and would relenquish control immediately...

Mike,

Go back for the update. Apparently Union Pacific has decided to pay Athearn, Roundhouse, Atlas etc. an "advertising fee" for every unit that is painted in UP colors. There is some word that the amount of the payment would make such models free.

Neither of you read the second paragraph where UP was instead going to charge the modelers and magazines everytime they wrote their name in print to make up for the lost revenue. [:D] *sorry couldn't resist...*

Oops, already used UP once, now I owe them $5.00
No wait that's a second UP.

Well the other day i decided to shrink down a real 5000hp diesel engine and place it inside an HO scale engine. With some minor shell modifications and lots of tweaking with the trucks it fit. Then i placed it on the layout and filled the tank with gasoline. I had placed a radio receiver in it so i could control. I turned the throttle up and BANG!!!!!! It exploded and I flew through the roof of my house and crashed into a nearby water tower where i nearly drowned. Then when i narrowly escaped drowning in the water tower i ran back to my house and found that the entire neighborhood was on fire. Then i was attacked the ghost of my train engine because i killed it. So i ran away but it still followed me and...
Oh-no... the ghost is attacking me... Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question concerning DCC and my coal drags. What is the best way to consit the 25 Kato AC4400 I use on it. Also, given that I have three such trains running at any given time what kind of power supply do I need to control the 75 Kato AC4400's pulling 400 Atlas RTR Hoppers. Trackwork is not a problem. Although it was a little more difficult than lying flex, the 3600 feet of code 78 track (started with code 83 and filed it down to code 78 which is more accurate for my prototype) is handlaid very accurately (in fact the NMRA uses my trackwork to calibrate their gages). I am also looking for someone that has a couple of brass big boys so that I can complete my one for one roster of Union Pacific steam that was present in LA on August 5, 1937. Hope to have my motive power totally DCC by tomorrow. Also, does anyone have color photos of the old Penn Station in NYC? I've almost completed my model of it kitbashed from 126 Walthers Union Station kits. Also when is Model Railroader going to move on to large layouts? Koester's layout is cute, but not very prototypical given the selective compression he has used.

Man, my first 2 months in this hobby has been fun!!
