Broadway Switcher - intermittent problem ?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 11:02 AM
Hi everyone

I have just taken delivery of two Broadway Switchers and am experiencing an intermittent probelm with both of them - well I think it's a problem !

Place them on the track and idling away fine, move forward, fine, switch into reverse and power up and the engine sound turns off then turns back on ! This happens with them both but not all the time. I have cleaned the track several times so dirty track isn't the cause, was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

I use a Lenz DCC system with both an LH90 and LH100 handheld and the problem can occur on either of them.

I also emailed Broadway 10 days ago but have had no reply

Any advice would be appreciated

I don't have a broadway-limitedswitcher but I do have a NYC j1e hudson and I have had some problem with the sound . the manuel says to remove the shell of the tender and with the power to the track off, remove the reset plug, turn the track power back on and you will here the engine sound for a few seconds. replace the reset plug and see if this works. It is supposed to program it back to the factory settings. I too hav emailed broadway limited and have gotten no reply from them. Maybe if we tell them that we will stop buying their product they might listen. Hope this helps.

Roy,
I have the BLI SW7 and the same thing is happening to it. I first thought that maybe I was reversing it before it was in the neutral position and that was causing it, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I really like the little guy and have even ordered another one. I can live with the problem although it's an aggravation. Let us know what you find out from BLI or email me please.

Edit: I use Digitrax Chief so I don't think it has anything to do with the command station.

You need to program a value of 3 or 4 (maybe more – some have said up to 7) in CV 3 & CV 4 the Acceleration and Deceleration momentum CV’s

This has been talked about on many of the Yahoo DCC sites. No one seems to know just what is causing it but it seems to be a BLI problem not the DCC manufacturers as it is a problem with all brands of DCC.

Thanks for all your help guys, I'll give your suggestions a try and let you know how I get on, might be a day or two as I'm laying a new kitchen floor.

At least I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem or the 'silence' from Broadway Limited.
