It was the day I was born so now today I am 27 years old. Damn time flew by since I was 18 years old. I rememebr when I used to go out to the clubs every weekend and be pimpin all the time with my boys. Now I am an old timer because I hate going out and hanging with my old friends. i like to be home with my family and layout. I now hang out with guys three times my age, Firefighters and some Cops. Wow where does the time go? Well I will just try to enjoy my 27th birthday today.

6 years ago today I spent three days in jail in Virginia. What a bad birthday that was. All I was doing is minding my own business trying to leave the state coming from Florida on a job interview. The state trooper took one look at me and my nice new Acura Legend at the time and got behind me and saw Connecticut plates and thats all it took. I was in jail for "speeding" My car was ripped thru and that stupid idiot cop actually tested a peanut I had in my center console for CRACK COCAINE!! Oh my god what a freak! I actually laughed while I was cuffed in the front seat of his car while he was testing it and holding it to my face telling me It was crack. A PEANUT!! Three days!! I ended up getting my car towed and had to weait for my mother to come get me. I sued the state and got $3500 resititution for what I went thru for no reason. So that is what I was worth for those three days and having to come back to court a month or two later.

Wow I am 27 years old. WOW

Now that's what I call a "nutcracker"! Happy birthday, Biggie...heh, when I was 27 I still had quite a bit of clubbing left in me--my wife-to-be and I spent quite a bit of time at gothic/industrial clubs back then--heck, I even ran one for a year or two. That was nine years ago, although now I have learned the joys of sitting back with the layout and, like you, hanging out with folks twice my age at the Railroad Museum.

Happy Birthday to you!

Settling down and having a family and putting my party life behind me were some of the best things I have done.

I will be 38 on the 25th and look forward to some time in the morning at the LHS and an afternoon playing with my kids and an evening of romance with my wife.

[bday]

There's a whole decade of my life that I just can't account for. Somehow I lived through it. Somebody up There must like me.

Happy Birthday!

DAveKelly I much prefer the life I am in right now. I am more settled and calm and I do not do things on the spirt of the moment as much anymore. I was so spontaneous before. A get up and go type of guy. I like the way it is now. All I need now is to win the powerball so I can retire. I really have to try and start playing or I will never win.
Anyway Thanks guys

Big Al,

A settled life, a family and a great hobby. Other than the Powerball, what more could a person want?

Happy Birthday, may nothing like that ever happen to you again. There is not reason for something like that to happen to anybody for any reason.

Happy birthday, I just turned 28 on the 5th so I can relate a bit...while I didn't spend any of my birthdays in jail I was arrested over a $5 parking ticket...to this day I still laugh about it. I wonder how much money it cost the city to arrest me over that $5 ticket...amazing.

Yeah I remember 27. It flies by a lot faster the older you get. Hopefully our trains and kids will keep us young at heart.

Happy b-day Biggie. Have a good one.

Well, Biggie, I was 34 when you were born. My kids are 37 and 34 respectively! I had a ten year old and a seven year old when you were born! We had a few trains running in the basement back then, too! Not as many as now, but we had a few. A lot of it was Tyco and the old AHM stuff, but it was all I could afford back then. I must admit, however, that I have never 1.been in jail in Virginia, 2. been in Virginia, 3.had Connecticut plates on my car, or 4. been told that a peanut was crack. You have had an interesting life, to say the least. I have 1. run into a bridge railing under a railroad overpass, 2.been the weekend news anchor on a small television station (when I was your age!), 3. ran a beautiful HO steamer off into the "great beyond" terminating on the cement (Ouch!), and just tonight 4. spent my model railroading time restoring a sump pump to service instead of railroading.

You sound like an interesting young man. Maybe we can all meet you at this year's NMRA in Cincinnatti.

Cheers,

Wow!

I was in 9th grade when you were born! My afternoons after getting home from school included bicycling to Tampa Union Station and seeing those huge SDP40F brutes hauling the Silver series Amtrak trains, sometimes 15 cars long!

Though I was bullied in school, overall life was fun, disco was popular and to me enjoyable, and though I was shy and a nerdy class clown at times, I experienced my first lip-kiss with a girl! Wish I could travel back.

Enjoy your years! They will zip by quickly.

God Bless, Peace and cheers!

Antonio! The first lip kiss!!!! Yes, I remember it well after all these years. That girl owned my heart for two or three years. Looking back, if I had spent the money on trains that I spent on her I would have one of those magazine cover layouts now! On the other hand, I remember some drive in movies, some school dances, some.......well, you know.

Stirs up memories!

The neat part of all this is that trains were and still are involved in our lives.

Cool!

Antonio,

So right!! (I remember my first kiss too -- actually ran into her after my divorce. The memory was much better than the reality!).
