Your locomotive roster- post-Christmas edition
Posted by EL PARRo on Sunday, February 6, 2005 2:51 PM
It's now more than a month after Christmas. All our locos we got are broken in by now, we have received anything we mail-ordered after Christmas. I'm sure many of us have new lcomotives we want to brag about, so here's the topic to do it in. Post your latest up-to-date loco roster here.

Athearn Amtrak California F59PHI #2002
Bachmann Spectrum Union Pacific 4-8-2 Light Mountain #7009
Life Like Proto 2000 Union Pacific GP9 Ph. II #252
Life Like Proto 2000 Union Pacific FA1 #1624
Life Like Proto 2000 Union Pacific FB1 #1624B
Life Like Proto 2000 Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe S1 #2303
Rivarossi unlettered 2-truck Heisler

My roster is a bit small, but my layout is only 5'x9', so it's actually more than I really need (not that there's anything wrong with that.[;)])
huh?

N scale, Dapol GWR 14xx class 0-4-2 tank loco (and matching "autocoach" push-pull trailer). Amazing little thing, superb detailing, smooth running, and about 3.5in long over buffers. Now I just need to build somewhere to run it!

I have nothing to brag about but my engien roster is very small.... in fact so small I only have one engien.... unless there is more stuff in storage... in that case I may have a couple more. As of right now my roster reads as follows.

1 Life Like (basic Life Like) F7 UP Locomotive

possibly in storage

1 bachmann prarie flyer
1 bachmann F9

and possibly aprox. 3 or 4 HO Locomotives.... if these are in storage I will wind up selling them on ebay. because I do not have the room for a HO layout.

BLI steam:

PRR J1 2-10-4, PRR M1a 4-8-2, undec Heavy Mike 2-8-2 (2nd run)

BLI Desiel

B&O SW7 # 9550

Athearn:

Cow and Calf set B&O vintage late 80's Chessie SD40, B&O FP45 (looking for a pair)

Riverrossi:

Heisler 2- Truck

Life Like

2-8-8-2 QSI on Order, Proto 2000 0-6-0

A-B-B-A set of B&O FA-2 units with dynamic brakes.

Bachmann

4-6-0 Ma and Pa and 2-10-0 Decapod Western maryland.

I have sold off many other engines that dont really fit in or perform as they should regarding grades and switches. My roster is more manageable and I may add one or two more engines in the near future. Once those come, then no more acquitisons. Then focus is on Sound and DCC Decoders.

Who knows? 10 years from now I may end up with 40 engines because I enjoy quality engines that run well.

Parro--you can NEVER have too many locomotives, don't you KNOW that, LOL? Sorry, my post-Christmas loco roster is the same as the pre-Christmas, only because BLI didn't release the Santa Fe 2-10-2 like it promised. So the roster remains as it was:
all steam and LOTS of it!

Actually, my engine roster SHRANK over the holidays! While I did receive one P2K Berkshire from my loving wife, I also sold off 30 or so engines at a local swapmeet (to pay off the tab for the rest of the P2K berks that will make up the bulk of my fleet!). My roster has shrunk from about 120 engines to about 90. I want to get my roster down to about 30-40 engines that I'll actually USE on a fairly regular basis, rather than have a huge roster of box queens.

Congrats on your rolling stock increase. Despite my best efforts I am now dealing with about 45 Boxcars. Not including anything else floating about in the spare room.

I got a BLI NYC/P&LE 2-8-2 from my wife for Christmas. I added an Athearn GP-40 which I have to install a decoder in and detail. I also added sound to my Bachman Niagara. Awesome!

Remember its your railroad

Mine's the same as it was in the pre-Christmas roster "survey", however I should be receiving my first sound equipped loco, a Burlington (CB&Q) GP9, any day now from Caboose Hobbies. Oh yeah, I also picked up an Athearn CF-7 recently in Santa Fe paint, to use on my TP&W/ATSF interchange trackage, just because it's so darned ugly looking! [:D]
