gmpullman More special commodity cars, please.
More special commodity cars, please.
Longest box car I've seen in a while.
Here's a couple sisters that Good Ol' Kevin gifted me quite a few years ago.
Not exactly sure what commodities these cars would typically carry, but they sure stand out in a roster of freights.
Show me another Stratton & Gillette car please.
Please show me another car designed for a specific commodity.
Other than its length, for the era, 74 feet, this PRR X30 looks like just about any other box car.

The commodity was anything but ordinary, though. Only one car was built and its purpose was to transport American LaFrance ladder trucks from the Elmira, New York, factory to where ever the new owner accepted delivery.

Let's see that bridge now
Maintenance of Way, good thing that one won't be on the test
A few in this pic. Post any agricultural building please
Didn't mean to get too obtuse, TF. M-of-W being maintenance of way so any track gang or railroad repair type car would do.

Similarly, a railroad service car such as the lube-oil tank car or perhaps a car for transporting sand or stockroom supplies would be in 'Company service' and would usually have some designation stenciled on the car.
A Scale Test Car would fall into the category of a company service car:

Cheers, Ed
The tank car was certainly bleeding rust properly
