Good day all from a sunny and warm West Coast.

My daughter was up late working on school work so I hopped in her BMW and went and filled the tank for her as it was nearly empty. BMWs run on premium so I closed my eyes while I was filling it so I couldn't see the $$$$ piling up on the pump.Laugh

The wife asked me to take all the bottles and cans back to the recycling centre so I hopped right to it. Now everyone knows that any good recycling centre is always located within 75' of a train store so I took the $8.75 I got for the bottles and cans and was somehow able to buy this $160.00 Dome car!

With my son's wedding coming up and with four big gatherings of very thirsty people here at the house, well what can I say? Weddings can be very profitable.Whistling

Better get out and continue the beautifying of the landscape, those visitors will be here before I know it.

I've fallen and I can't get up!

All the best to all.

I see I have tops so it is eggs benny for all with Momosa's and lots of extra bacon for John. That is what the boss is cooking as I type.Dinner

Brent, cherish those "first time and last time" events.

Yes Brent, as Mr B says 'Cherish those moments'.

The days with children and grandchildren  once gone never return.

Oh to sleep at Grandma's again.  The simple fun.

A child's first walk.   Now it's 'Where the heck have they gone'.

Daughter's first date.   Mom, Dad  I want to get married.

The hours go slowly by, but cherish the seconds as they pass quickly.

Brent, cherish those "first time and last time" events.  Our children grow up, and it seems like mere minutes pass as they go from strollers to bike seats on the back to their own bikes to riding triathlons.  The same goes for us chauffeuring them everywhere to those first tentative loops around the school parking lot in the summer to watching them drive off with their own cars packed with stuff.

It sounds like we've both raised children to be proud of.  My daughter is doing acupuncture in Maine.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good morning.  I'll have bacon, eggs, and black coffee.

I went to the store to get more bacon, and the price was higher again.  If I keep eating bacon everyday the bank is going to start questioning my grocery store purchase amounts.

My little town has a couple of model train fanatics who I know.  However, the other day I was checking a hobby store's website and saw a comment by a man I know from church.  He was asking about certain covered hoppers.  All this time I didn't know he was a model railroad nerd like me.  Maybe we need to develop a secret handshake or a code word so we recognize each other.

I don't print too much with my computer anymore but whenever I do, as often as not, I need to get another new ink cartridge.  I'm considering buying a new printer that uses the small bottles of ink.  Has anyone tried one of those?

Have a great day, everyone.

Good Friday morning. I keep thinking it is Saturday for some reason. It is cool and damp, perfect weather for all the yardwork I have to do today.

The daughter came home last night for a few days, driving herself on the ferry with the car she now has, it was kind of nice not having to make the drive to go get her.

York1
Brent, that's a good job on the stairs.  What is the building project where they'll be used?

Thanks, John, the stairs are for this coaling tower. It has been a lot of work with a lot of precise cutting. Building this thing has really slowed down progress on other things.

Bear, thanks for the offer to stay at the Bear Hotel. That 17 hour non-stop would be too much for the wife even in the comfy seats up front, but you never know. She is talking of a cruise around the Pacific Rim with stops in NZ. I am not big on cruises and the cattle car excursions when going ashore. I have traveled a lot and always just went at my own pace, staying longer when I wanted to and leaving if and when I was ready to move on from a place.

David, hope your X-ray turns out for the best, at least you live in a place where early detection is available which always makes for the best outcome.

I had 16 yards of soil delivered and started shoveling and moving it to where I wanted it around the back 40. I had just started and two of my neighbours showed up with their tractors and had it all done in no time. Country living with great neighbours can't be beaten.

Cabeese sounds good to me for next month.

Best get at it.

All the best to all.

Good morning, everyone.  I'm headed out the door for a funeral in a few minutes, so I will have to check the diner later today.

Cabooses sound great, and I will second the idea that we start the month with a tour of Ed's backyard caboose.  I've seen the photos, but I would love to see them again.

David, I hope you are right and the doctors are wrong.  Let us know how things progress.

Charlie, you can keep the snow there.  We finally don't have any left.  Yesterday for my walk I saw the last snow traces in a ditch along the creek.  That should be gone today.

I hope everyone has a Good Friday.

Tuesday is a yes or no day.   I have to have an x-ray.  Doctors think I could have cancer.   I say I haven't.

Hi David,

You should be proud of yourself. You are a very stalwart person. I hope for the best possible outcome.

Cheers!!

Good afternoon Diners.   Tea and a toasted hot cross bun please,  Zoe.

Not a lot going on here.  Dawn has spent the morning in bed.

The caboose theme for April sounds good.  Whether I can contribute or not I do not know.

Tuesday is a yes or no day.   I have to have an x-ray.  Doctors think I could have cancer.   I say I haven't.    It appears that whatever symptom a person has,   the doctors have to treat them for possible cancer.

On a cheerful note.   Running some trains later. Yeah

Good Evening,

All fine up here in the Great White North and it is supposed to get even whiter tomorrow.

We will have a quiet weekend as usual. I miss the family Easter gatherings but it has been more than 15 years since one of those.

Wherever the Diner goes next month is fine by me.

Thanks everyone for inquiring about my well being! I had a short visit with my urologist yesterday and everything is status quo for the time being. Blood test and follow up with the oncologist will reveal more toward the first of July.

Cabooses might be a fun topic but I say that as more of a recipient than a provider.

A caboose-themed April might be a fun topic. I can move the Diner if no one else would want the task.

We had three granddaughters here for a four-day visit and that has left me a bit exhausted. Seems like one of them was generous with whatever virus they were harboring as I'm now feeling sore and light headed. Sure signs of more flu-like symptoms to follow.

I hope everyone reading this is doing Ok as well!

Cheers, Ed

Good morning diners. Chloe, grapefruit juice please.

Cabooses might be a fun topic but I say that as more of a recipient than a provider. Sorry guys. I wish I had more to share.

Last day of relaxing family time before we hit the road and we are navigating a moody teenage girl who didn't get enough sleep last night. Confused Such is life.

Ed, Track Fiddler, Brent, Charlie, (others?): Hope you guys are okay. Haven't heard from you in a while.

Good morning, everyone.

I also don't have a preference for the diner.  I've always been interested in the old Burlington Route.  Maybe the diner could be parked by its route for while.

Bad news.  My wife likes her new Android tablet.  I had hoped that since she uses an iPhone, she wouldn't like the new tablet and I would get it.  I guess if I want to use one, I will have to buy one for myself.

Have a great day, everyone.

I think this photo may have already been posted once, but it's a neat one anyway:

I’m not particularly fussy as to where the Diner goes, I’m just pleased to be able to be here.
I would note that in recent months, there have been suggestions made to visit cabooses, or railroad yards.

Her-in-Doors and I are off this long weekend to visit our friends with the farm. Looking forward to a catchup! Would like to think I get a bit of a relax, but then there’s always something to do on a farm. Still a change is as good as a holiday.

To those who celebrate it, have a pleasant Easter, to those that don’t have a good weekend.

Thoughts and Best wishes to All that need them. Kia Kaha.

Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Hi folks!

Where do you want to take the Diner for April? My creative juices are not exactly flowing these days so let's hear your suggestions.

Cheers!!

Dave, are you having any luck finding a Canadian to build a layout table?

Hi John,

Nope! The one company in Canada that came up on a Google search seems to not be doing business. My emails to them get returned with a message that the system has tried several times to deliver the email without success. This is not the Mailer-Demon response that you get when an email address is wrong or defunct, so it looks like the address is still valid but nobody is responding on the other end.

What I want to have done includes building a 2' x 10' piece of benchwork for the large yard, getting the track laid properly, and getting the wiring done. The main benchwork is built and I just have to level the surface properly before the track is laid on it.

The fact is that I probably can do all the work by myself but we have to get the garage cleared out and the floor refinished finished. We were making good progress on that last fall but then Dianne injured her calf muscle badly so work came to a halt. She has recovered to the point where we can start again. All we have to do is find the time.

Thanks for asking,

Cheers!!

Dave

The GF has an iPhone which has been suddenly acting up.  Turns out, those fun-loving Appleheads just "updated" it, which caused it not to be able to call out and then not to recognize its own SIM card, even though she did nothing to cause these problems.  "If it ain’t broke, fix it until it is" seems to be their motto.  We were out doing Meals on Wheels, so she had to use my humble Android phone to call clients.

Good morning, diners.  Bacon, eggs, and coffee, please.

It was another cold morning (15°F) to walk the dog.  The ice is mostly gone, although in the dark it's hard to tell what's ice and what's just wet.

David, I'm glad you finally got to post a photo again!

It sounds like this is more of a Flickr problem and not a forum problem.  The arrow or the BB code appears on some systems and not on others.  I wonder if Flickr recently had a software update that caused this?

Ed, is there any news on the health front?

Dave, are you having any luck finding a Canadian to build a layout table?

Ray, that's a neat photo of your son at the castle ruins.  It looks like the dog is enjoying himself.

Mike, it's good to hear your daughter is making good progress on the health issues.

Brent, that's a good job on the stairs.  What is the building project where they'll be used?

For me, today is layout tree day.  (That is, it's layout tree day in the time I have left after going to Walmart for my wife's shopping list.  I hate going there, but out here in flyover country, it's the only store in town where we can get certain things.  My complaint about them is that I have to spend so much time going up and down aisles searching for the items on the list.)

I'm also looking forward to getting the new Samsung tablet today.  The email said it's out for delivery.  I think my wife will like it.  It's her birthday present.  If she doesn't like it, I will get it!

For everyone mentioned or not, I hope your day is healthy and happy.

The Forum is not playing Ball for me tonight. Sigh

EDIT again!
I used my Android Phone to see if I could post a photo from Flickr to the Forum and got the above result, which while linking to the photo, if clicked on, was not the result I was after!!

While I got the arrow, I did not get the BB code.

This is the result I wanted.

Curious!! Trying to edit and add the following to my post above, I kept getting the “Forbidden 403 code.

“From my experiences with Flickr, I could see the BB code in my old PC and in my Mac; however, I cannot see it in my iPad which is where I do 99% of my posting from.  If you can't see the BB code, it might be the device you're posting from.  I don't know for sure, but the same might also be true from Android devices.”

Gidday Jim, I think you’re on to something there.

Hi Everyone,

From my experiences with Flickr, I could see the BB code in my old PC and in my Mac; however, I cannot see it in my iPad which is where I do 99% of my posting from.  If you can't see the BB code, it might be the device you're posting from.  I don't know for sure, but the same might also be true from Android devices.  Perhaps someone else can shed some light on that.

Less is more,...more or less!

Guys.   I do not have the arrow.    I have the other three symbols only.

David

Do you use an ad blocker? I just googled your issue and that was the first thing that popped up.

I also found folks referencing a browser issue, but they talked about the ad blocker first in that thread too.

Must be something that can be fixed as JaBear and I are able to post your photos.

Afternoon folks!

Guess I'm glad I use Imgur....  Click on the photo, then In the list find BBCode, click on copy, then place here.  (Option C on my mac) and the photo appears.

Easy peasy!

Mike.   What is the BB Code and where do I find it?

David

Ok. The orientation will look different as I'm trying to do this from my phone, but the process is the same.

Go to the photo you want to share in whatever Flickr album you have it in and hit the little arrow at the bottom.

Photo posts by Michael, on Flickr
Then in the window that pops up, click on the BBCode option at the top, select the size you want the shared photo to be, and copy the entire code in the window.

Photo posts by Michael, on Flickr
Then paste the entire code as text in your post and hit enter. It will just look like text until you post it. For example, the text that shows while I'm typing this for the last picture here looks like this:
