Miss you guys
Did ya hit the rack already

Track fiddlerMiss you guys late at night sometimes Did ya hit the rack already?
Still here! It's been a little busier than I wanted today.
Tomorrow is our anniversary, so we will drive into the city (about 50 miles) to eat at Cracker Barrel, my wife's favorite place. I don't mind the food, but I don't like the fact that you have to walk through a store to get into the restaurant. That means my wife finds something to buy every single time we go there.
Forty-five years ago, we were having a great time in New Orleans. A bunch of friends grabbed me at my apartment and took me to the French Quarter for my last night as a single. Lots of fun.
TF, now it's time for me to turn in. Have a great evening, everyone.

The jambalaya, where you knew where to get it, was best at the French Quarter.
The Po'boy was best at the gas station right next to Barb's house
I'm still here and kickin' John, but haven't had much time recently for chatting.
Cheers, Wayne
Good to hear from you Wayne.
Gotta hit the rack Kids, but I'll catch up with ya'll tomorrow.
Nighty night.
Good morning
There's a train show at Century College Gymnasium in White Bear Lake.
No mystery where I'll be a bit later this morning?
Good evening, everyone.
I have a few minutes -- the wife is outside putting up Christmas lights. I'm sure she will be calling for help in a couple of minutes.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Sunday!
A few years ago (OK, it was twenty!) I spent a few hours at the Sacramento railroad station waiting to board the eastbound California Zephyr. Here's what I saw:
Enjoy your day, folks.
Cheers, Ed
Good morning Diners. A coffee on the go please, Zoe.
Sunshine and showers today.
Playing unpaid taxi today, so out and about.

Good morning diners. Chloe, coffee please. Last day of fall soccer season for us. I'm ready for the break, but it does make me a bit sad. I rather enjoy the time together. She has played well so far this weekend. A goal and an assist at this point. Her whole team has played well so far, unlike how they finished the last few games of their regular season. Tournament play has them re-energized.
Hope all are well.
Mike
Good evening, diners. It's happy hour, so I'll have a lite beer, Chloe.
This has been a wonderful day for our area -- it has been dark with light rain all day. We have been in such a drought that this is very welcome.
My wife is helping at a soup supper at our church, so that leaves me alone! Great time to work on the layout! I have some cross supports on the bridge glued and drying, so I get some time in the diner.
My daughter just called and she is trying to work out next summer's vacation plans for us all. She gets my wife and I, the three daughers and their husbands and all the grandkids together each year for a vacation somewhere. I love it because the daughters plan everything -- all I have to do is show up.
I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm waiting for the vet to open so I can take Felicity in for her operation. She's been stuffed into a pet carrier all night, poor thing.
Big breakfast, and a bloody Mary for me when I get back . It was down to 26°F last night Brrr.
Happy Thanksgiving Week!

gmpullmanHello, Bill. Did you see the photo of the Tipton depot I posted one page back?...
I just did. The depot has had some upgrades since then but still looks much the same. I was HQed there at various times during my career with N&W/NS. I've been retired since Feb. 2008.
Good afternoon Diners. A large Scotch whisky please, Janie.
At last! I am not lazy.
All my school life I had great difficulty using my right hand. Being unable to pick things up. Catch anything that was thrown at me. Write. It was much easier to use my left hand. Quicker. I had to have tests as to why I did not use my right hand.
The result -- I was lazy in not using the hand.
All my life I still use my left hand to do things and not my right.
Recently I have had tests done on my kidneys. All is well, but the hospital did other tests.
"Did I know I had a stroke early in my life?" a Doctor asked.
I knew my Aunt and Uncle took me out of the hospital so as to die at home instead of hospital ( as the doctors at the time said I had only a month to live).
Therefore I am not lazy. I am just a lousy piano player.
Janie. Another large Scotch please.
Good morning, diners. Chloe, I'll have bacon, eggs, and black coffee, please.
David, that's an amazing story of your life! Was the use of your right hand the only lasting effect of the stroke?
It's still lightly raining here. We haven't had this in quite a while.
When we had Daisy the Dachshund, we had to literally drag her outside when it was raining. This new dog is the opposite. She runs outside, raining or not, and the rain doesn't seem to bother her at all. She's got some working dog genes in her, so I guess she's ready to work no matter the weather.
More work on the bridge today. This rainy weather has helped move bridge construction along ahead of schedule.

Yes, fortunately. I cannot use three fingers on the hand, hence a struggle doing things.
But hey! I have got through life. Considering I was given amonth at best, it's a 'long month'.

Double Deckers
Good morning Diners. Janie, coffee and a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar please.
Looks like I have to send my NCE system in for repair. I've tried everything to get it to quit misbehaving to no avail. I finally had time to call them yesterday and the gentleman I spoke with pretty quickly reached the same conclusion I did. I just hope I get it back by Christmas. I have time off planned around the holidays and sure would enjoy being able to run some trains while I have the time. I haven't had more than a few minutes at a time in the last several months which was ruined by a malfunctioning system. Nuts!

Good morning, everyone. Bacon, eggs, and coffee, Chloe.
Out for the morning trail walk with the dog this morning, I saw the blue heron again. It's been a long time since I had spotted it.
This photo is not good. I grabbed my $30 Walmart phone for the photo, and tried taking the picture while the dog was jerking the leash. The heron looked to be about four feet tall.
I don't want to jinx myself, but right now I have a full day ahead with nothing to do except railroading! I need about 2,000 of these days so I can say I'm making progress.

Wouldn't make up a story John, how else could It be told.
Was sunning myself on the dock one morning when a blue heron flew over and crapped right in my face.
Blue Heron crap is really nasty, as rolling off the dock into the lake to rinse off seamed like the right thing to do at the time while throwing up in the water
Sorry, as that was not a very good morning that day. Many of other mornings were much better then that one
