Evening
She said she wanted to have a picnic at Bush Lake, before we head out early in the morning.
Okay now, which one of you guys said cornish game hens are no good?
Pay to differ!
We had to get out into the Canadian haze. My Grandfather grew up up there eh! Apparently everyone else in the city stayed home.
We're hoping for rain up there.
Judy's picnic cloth made of bandanas, are favorite colors of each individual family member, past and present. The hens turned out well.
Don't ya love sparkling Waters?
Wish my Forum Friends could have been here around the bench at dusk.

BigDaddyBret 9 miles, I'm impressed. I would have thrown my bike in the car and rode that home
I have done that often as well if I am in a hurry. We have nine bikes in the garage, throwing one in the back of the truck is easy, but the Toyota not so much.
I remember when I had my shoulder surgery, when I was in the recovery room waking up both the surgeon and Anesthesiologist came by at the same time to see me and the surgeon said to me that it was a real pleasure working on such a fit person for a change and not having to cut through six inches of fat to get to the joint and the Anesthesiologist said a fit person certainly makes my job easier.
We had a water main leak a few hundred metres up the street late on a Friday once. The city came out and the guy said it wasn't that bad so he wasn't paying overtime to fix it then. Monday morning at 0330hrs we heard a loud bang as all the pipes in our house let us know the main had really let go. It woke everyone up along that stretch of road and we were all outside witnessing the destruction that was being caused by the water. The overtime bill would have been a small fraction of the cost to repair the damage caused by the deluge.
1730hrs means a splash of scotch is in order.

"All of the world's problems are the result of the difference between how we think and how the world works."
Hopefully the leak is upstream of the meter. If not someone will be getting a big water bill.
Bret 9 miles, I'm impressed. I would have thrown my bike in the car and rode that home, but I haven't been on the bike since I had my heart valve replaced. I did go to a demonstration of electric bikes. If I had a decent place to ride, away from people in cars texting on their phones I would get one.
TF I was at that turntable. I don't know if they had kids working that day but the turntable did 4 or 5 360's and 3 or 4 times faster than that video. It was rediculously fast.
My nextdoor neighbor noticed a puddle between our yards. There is a fire hydrant on the property line and our water meters are on either side. The county came out to look at it last week. His water meter had water in the bottom. They pumped it out. Water is still coming out of the ground. The put flags in a big square around the fire hydrant today. I hope they aren't going to dig all that out.

Afternoon all from the stunning West Coast where it is 25c.
Yesterday I had our Toyota in for a new windshield and on the way home from picking it up it told me we had a leaky tire. I made it home and decided to go have dinner and deal with it today. The tire had lost 12 lbs overnight and I found a fastener of some sort in it so I called Toyota and they said to bring it over and they could fix it today if I could leave it, so I pumped it up and dropped it off at Toyota and walked/ran home 14.5km/9 miles. Made pretty good time considering the heat. My Queen had estimated my time of arrival and handed me this mocha iced coffee when I came in the door. The tire repair is under warranty. The wife offered to come get me but I said I needed the exercise.
Happy Birthday Dave and Dianne. I wish I still had a summer cottage to go to, maybe someday.
My neighbour emailed and asked if I can come take the front wheel off his tractor as he has a flat tire. He has been battling Parkinson's and his days of looking after his acres are dwindling. I am glad to help.
The wife also told me she has booked a week at a 5-star resort in Mexico in November, sounds good to me, but come to think about it she didn't say she was taking me. I may just play that one up a bit.
Time to head down the road to the neighbours.
All the best to all.

Good afternoon
Cool bridge John. Have always loved seeing bridge construction like that. Fastenating.
Change of plans, it's looking like Judy wants to go out of town again this weekend. Doesn't look like I'll be starting out WPF on Friday if anyone wants to take care of it.
Have a great rest of your day everyone.
It's still morning here for the next 45 minutes, so I'll have bacon and eggs, please.
Happy birthday, Dave. It sounds like you had a great time.
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad runs all the tracks and trains for the Port of New Orleans. It also owns the Huey Long Bridge, a railroad and highway bridge across the Mississippi.
Their old roundhouse is still used by the railroad, but from the backside which is on a public street, it doesn't look like an old railroad structure.

Dianne and I just got back from spending a couple of days visiting friends who were camping at the Pinery Provincial Park on Lake Huron in Ontario. We haven't been able to camp for several years thanks to my back problems so it was really nice to sit by the fire and let everyone else do all the work!
We didn't stay overnight in the park. Instead we rented a very nice B&B close by. Our hosts, Lorri and Scott, went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. Dianne had told them that it was our birthdays (mine is on May 14 and Dianne's is on May 15) so, instead of plain orange juice for breakfast, they popped open a bottle of Prosecco and served us mamosas (sp?)
The highlight of the trip was when one of our very artistic friends presented me with a fabulous water colour painting of the view from our old cottage in northern Ontario. I'll post a picture of it once we get it hung, but it might possibly be the best gift that I have ever received!! The cottage was sold a couple of years ago because I could no longer maintain it so now I have a superb memento of all the good times we had there.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Well, good to see you too Kevin! Sounds fun. Had lunch with my oldest Daughter on Tuesday.
I'd be happy to host WPF this weekend. Even though my condo rehab is getting a little stormy

That's a blue sky at Cowboys in the picture above, but the Alberta and Saskatchewan haze has been hanging here. Can Only Imagine how it is up there.
Hope they get some rain where it's needed...
When did I ever have time to work?
Cheers to my fellow diners.
Good afternoon, diners.
I'm writing from a dark room in our house. I just got back from the eye doctor, and my eyes are dilated. I don't think I would even need a flashlight if I was in a dark cave -- I can see in the dark!
I thought this week was going to be a quiet, easy week. My wife had other thoughts. She wants a wall in the dining room changed, with some wood panels on one wall. To her, it is simple -- just glue boards to a wall. To me, I see outlets and a light switch that will have to be adjusted to the extra 3/8 inch depth. Other things also have to be dealt with.
My easy week has seemed to evaporate.
This is the old AT & SF roundhouse in Las Vegas, New Mexico. I didn't even know there was a Las Vegas in NM.
Have a good Wednesday.
Good morning from the spectacular West Coast. We may get a bit of smoke showing up later today as Alberta and BC are burning up already, in fact, I can just smell a bit now.
SeeYou190I wonder if the landlord went through the eviction process just to ruin their rental history. That seems cruel.
Having been a landlord I would bet the eviction process started long before they left. Once the money is spent on that process you don't stop. I always had great relationships with my tenants over the eighteen years I own rental properties, all but two and they left as soon as I started the process as they were not the people I had rented the place to in the first place. The regulations are a lot different now, I haven't owned rental property for 28 years.
I dropped the Toyota off for its new windshield, they said they need it all day as they have to calibrate the camera and sensors. Hope they do a good job as I don't want to be driven off a cliff. I only pay the deductible but I am wondering what the total bill will be now there are sensors involved.
Time for a scoot with a mutt. I am only going to do 5km today, then cut the grass and hit the truck with the pressure washer.
I kinda liked it before it changed.

Good morning everyone. Chloe, just start me out with a black coffee please. I will decide what to get from the kitchen in a few minutes.
I killed a black widow in the mailbox today. It had been a couple of years since I had seen one anywhere around the house. Need to keep an eye out now.
There is a final eviction notice on the house across the street declaring that all residents must vacate the premises by the eighteenth. The people that lived there left the house on April first.
I wonder if the landlord went through the eviction process just to ruin their rental history. That seems cruel.

up831Went over to the kids' house and had absolutely delicious rib eye steaks. I would guess they were about 1 1/4" thick (3 cm) and my son grilled them to perfection. Sorry no pictures. We ate all the evidence.
That sounds like a great time.
I am going to Orlando at the end of the week. I will see my youngest daughter and stop into my second favorite steak house in Florida.
I can't wait.
Good evening from the land of perfect. A stunning evening tonight as it will be for the next four months. All the doors and windows will be open until then.
up831Brent: That drive in picture is fascinating.
Jim, that drive-in is in Los Angeles in 1948. I see a lot of wasted real estate in that photo. I wonder how long the place stayed open.
Ray, love the story about the Doc. When I was three or four years old and started going out to play, five of us became friends for life from that young age. Now well into our sixties we all still talk on a regular basis (weekly or more) We all played sports together growing up be it hockey or baseball or basketball at school. We are all still in excellent condition. Two of us moved away from where we grew up but the other three still ride and hike together a couple of times a week, I wished I was close enough to join them.
On another site, I started reading about the history of piano manufacturing. When television really took hold in the 1960s the piano makers started going out of business as people stopped making music and became couch potatoes. Music is an extraordinary way to exercise that thing in our skull called the brain. So TV shrinks the brain and expands the gut.
My wife cooked me an 18oz rib steak tonight with a huge salad and a few sweet potato fries cooked in the air fryer. Added up to about 1500 calories. That is less than half of what I burned today, it was the same yesterday so I will be returning to the kitchen shortly.
Cool pics of Toronto Ed. Here are some of the Vancouver RH, the tracks seem imbedded in one photo and partially imbedded in the other.
It is 2030 hrs, think I'll take a dog and wander up the road and see who is sitting out enjoying the night, maybe I can score a beer or two.

Thanks Brent! My hero at the moment is a retired Doctor here in Geneva. He just ran in a local 5k and Came in 3rd. place in his class, he told me. He is an older gent so I would think he was in the oldest group (75 and older???) Oh yeah, he is 92 years old at the moment! He comes over to the field house several days a week to run. (He is the only guy who is running that I can catch and lap...). The thing that brings a smile to my face is that every few laps he runs over to his 90+ year old wife, holds out his hand which she takes, and they walk a couple laps together! They are the nicest couple as well. I get chills watching the two of them together! Still in love!!!!!
I have a walking "date" with a beautiful woman I like a lot this Thursday. We are going to walk the path at the head waters of Seneca Lake and then have lunch together! She is a year younger than me and keeps herself in great condition!

Hi Everyone,
Brunhilda, coffee with cream, please.
Had a wonderful Mother's Day a couple of days ago. Went over to the kids' house and had absolutely delicious rib eye steaks. I would guess they were about 1 1/4" thick (3 cm) and my son grilled them to perfection. Sorry no pictures. We ate all the evidence. We had the granddaughters make some signs for Mama's garden. We had gotten some pressed wood hearts about 3" big and then got some paint stir sticks from a box store. The youngest painted the hearts with fun colors like pumpkin, bubble gum, and wasabi. Then the older lettered them with markers. Grandpa painted the sticks and glued them together. They turned out well. My wife acquired 5 bracelets. I got one, my wife got herself another, then she got a free bangle. Then, the kids got her one and another free bangle. I'd say she cleaned up.
Brent: That drive in picture is fascinating. The car pulls in the parking Y give their order either through a speaker system or select on the little carts. The cart goes in to the store and comes back out with the order. One would think that they'd save money by not having to hire car hops, but that much mechanical stuff I'm sure proved to be a real maintenance headache. The picture looks to me to be Southern California with the vegetation in the background. But, I imagine it's Vancouver. For all I know it could be Yellowknife. Anyway, neat idea.

I just hope I am still able to keep up the pace as the years pass. I will be quite happy if I am doing what you are doing when I am your age.
I just remembered I have to take the Toyota in for a new windshield tomorrow, it is just two years old and we were attacked by a boulder. I saw it coming and swerved but it just caught the edge of the glass. Twin cracks across a corner.
BATMANOK old man, not to be outdone,Pirate today I did 11.26km in 1:51. It is a little cooler today so my HR at the top of the 147 metre climb was 142BPM, yesterday in the heat it was 163BPM. Burned 940 calories on the jaunt. I feel like a million bucks.
Ya know, I ain't even in the same class!
Just got home from meeting with the councilors over at the High School about this year's MLK Scholarship applicants. Looks like we have some great kids applying and it is likely that all 7 will get a scholarship from us.
howmus BATMAN Did 7.86km with two of the dogs before I went and got the mulch. Got Ya Beat Batman! I put in 5.33 Miles (8.5778km) today and I got 10 years on ya! Ok, ok, that took me all day and I didn't run up any mountains... But it still ain't bad for an old Gezzer like me! Did a full 5k over at the Fieldhouse this morning. 73

Now to finish off the bark mulch which will wring another 1000 calories out of me. I see a big steak in my future. The wife looks at how many calories I burned on the computer and pulls the appropriate size out of the fridge for dinner. She is at the butcher as I type.
Hope to run a train later, the train room is nice and cool.
This is a round-something.
Hello! Chloe, please bring me a bowl of split pea soup and a pile of saltines.
Last night at work we did not have a freight truck. That was the first time since Hurricane Ian we have not had a truck to unload. We normally received 4-5 trucks per week. Since Ian it has been 1-3 every day.
Hopefully we can start getting the store cleaned up now.
Good morning, everyone.
The layout hasn't gotten much attention lately. It seems like Spring brings all kinds of distractions. Maybe later today I can turn my attention to the new layout chemical plant being built.
I haven't been to this site, but the Cheyenne, Wyoming, Union Pacific roundhouse looks interesting:
Have a great day, everyone.
