Hello, and welcome to a new month of Show Me Something, one of my very favorite threads.

I am starting out April with a tribute to one of our best that is no longer with us. This is a group of his CB&Q EMD hood unit locomotives.

Please show me another EMD hood unit.

I liked Fruit Stripe gum too. In fact, just thinking about it gives me the cravings for some which I probably haven't chewed in over 50 years.

I'm surprised they were still using the slogan in 1991 although not the full jingle.

Does REA count as a railroad name? The logos on the trucks are a little hard to make out, but they are there.

Also, the building to the right houses the main office for my fictional New York, Binghamton, and Western RR and the sign is painted on the front of the building although hard to make out.

A pair of reefers loading up at the A&P warehouse.

I was puzzled by the Van Camp's reefer because I couldn't figure out why a canned food company would need a reefer. I started a thread about it and the consensus is that it is a foobie since there is no record of the reporting marks in any roster.

Not sure why, but I'm unable to see your photos without clicking on the little "image" box, and sometimes even that doesn't work.  Is there a setting on your Trainweb account that allows the photos to be shared on a site like this?

Or ... there's a problem with my computer.  It's entirely possible the problem is with my computer.

My computer does that also sometimes when it first starts up. I think it is because the memory is full and the harddrive doesn't swap because it's too busy running the anti-virus program or indexing the harddrive, but it eventually shows the pictures.

Another reason might be that the trainweb server is busy or slow.

More populated scenes, please.

A crowd has gathered for the dedication of Union Pacific SD70 4141:

Ed, I have a question. Is there a prototype for that engine. I remember back in 1992, Bush 41 was riding a campaign train through the Midwest and it went right past our golf course as our group was putting on the 5th green. We waved to the train but we have no idea if the President saw us.

My recollection of the loco was that it was dark blue and gold. I believe it was seen as a backdrop in the Clint Eastwood movie, In The Line Of Fire, in which Eastwood plays a Secret Service agent trying to foil a threatened assassination of the President. I don't have that movie on DVD even though it is one of my favorite movies. John Malkovich was brilliant as the assassin. Anyway, I'm curious if the loco in your picture represents the same one I saw in 1992. The movie was released in 1993.

Update: I found a picture of the 1992 campaign train and it is what I remembered.

Don't know why I can't get this to post as a clickable link.

I'm guessing the loco in Ed's pictures might be from Bush 41's funeral train.

Yes, the 4141 was used in the funeral train but its history preceeds that.

Take a look here for some good photos of the dedication:

Funny thing about my staged photo. I had not seen these photos of the dedication before 'staging' the scene when Mr. Bush had died. I was surprised at how close I came in the scene where the parties involved were standing on the walkway of the locomotive.

I bought this SD70 at a closeout sale only because I liked the colors. After Mr. Bush passed away there was a huge scramble for the model suppliers to fill orders for the engine. It had been known for several years that the UP was going to 'dust off' the engine for the funeral train. The model manufacturers should have anticipated that.

The 1992 is a different engine than the 4141.
