I'm trying to remove the shell on a Bachmann GP35 Rio Grande 3054. I have the couplers off, and can't find any other screws. Its it all a matter of manhandling the plastic as this stage? It seems tight and I don't want to break it.
I'm not familiar with that locomotive. Look carefully under the corners of the trucks either front or rear of the trucks. Sometimes you have to pull the fuel tank off to find the screws hidden under it.

Here's Bachman's official exploded diagram for the GP35 (they don't give any instructions on removing the shell).It looks like you need to remove the fuel tank. This should expose two screws( they may be at the bottom of a hole) that may, MAY attach the shell to the chassis. Good luck and lets us know how you make out.

Yes, you need to remove the fuel tank cover to reveal the two (2) screws that hold on the shell.
Pull it off with your fingers using a side-to-side rocking motion or carefully pry it off with a small flathead jewelers screwdriver working slowly around the sides.
Then you can remove the two (2) screws that hold on the shell located in the recesses in the fuel tank weight, which is part of the frame.
I like to use the fuel tank cover to hold the couplers and screws so they don't get "lost."
This method of removing the shell also works for Bachmann GP40s, GP30s, and GP38-2s.
