Well, to help our "We Be" brethren................can someone (or the moderator) post a simplified step-by-step procedure in how to post / change a photo or icon above our name?

On some forums, members will post a comical icon that represents their personality. Here's an oversized icon that a friend of mine used on a car group that had me laughing too hard!

I wonder that too. How many different members have posted at least once in 2022?

You should watch some semi-trucker dash cam compilations on Youtube.  There are tons and tons of cars brake checking semi's and very few actually get hit.  It's mostly truckers ranting about brake checkers.  Now and then you get Karma and the car gets his back smashed in.

I was just showing a sample icon, but yes, I watch those vids on YouTube.

I have to side with the ranting truckers, who are already stressed enough just eye-balling surrounding traffic. Years back I drove 40ft buses, part time, for a tour company.  When I was brake-checked for the 1st time, my blood pressure must have shot up 30 points for a stretch and it took me a while to calm down. I'll keep it clean and not share what I wanted to do to that car.

Oh, I can guess.  I've wanted to see karma too.

As far as the vid's go, I can only watch so much because it's just annoying rather than entertaining.  Many of the dash cam video's with road rage just make me mad so I stick with the Karma videos!  Much more gratifying.  But yeah, now and then you see a car get their back smashed in brake checking a truck, or occasionally they get pitted by try ing to cut infront.

I know that tstage and mobilman44 were not always weebles. There are probably more.

I am interested to know how they got re-weebled, and why they cannot go back.

I'm not sure about this, but it seems I remember some people tried to change their photo, but after they deleted their old ones, the system wouldn't allow them to put in a new one.

I have lived in Delaware for years, and I've tried to change my profile but it still says I'm in Massachusetts.  This is a problem with the forum software.

At 75 years old, this old software will probably outlive me.  I have given up hope they will ever replace it.

I will not even attempt to change my avatar.  I would probably end up as a feeble Weeble.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

If you go to your profile and click Edit Profile in the upper right, you should come to this page. What happens if you click the link I circled in red below? I believe that's how I originally uploaded my avatar, but now I'm afraid to try it.

I think someone who's currently a Weeble should try it and let us know if it works.

Drove truck many years. The worst is slowing down for a light and you get the idiots who have to be in front and close your stopping distance to almost zero. And the diver for the off ramp at the last second. My worst nightmare happened about 25 years ago. Two lane road doing about 35 in a 40 when a school bus full little kids pulled out from a side street from the right turning left. I slammed the brakes and ended up in the front yard of the corner house after clipping the very back of the bus. No serious injuries and the thirty year old lady bus driver was arrested for DUI, failure to yeild, and child endangerment. The scene still plays in my head.

I believe this is what the problem is.  If you try it, one of two things will happen.

1.  Nothing will change.  The new avatar is not accepted.

2.  Your old avatar disappears and you get a weeble instead.  Once that happens, you can't change it.

And York, you're not trying it because you have an avatar (i.e. something to lose), right?

I'm SO tempted. What is it about this that makes me want to risk everything and click that link? It's got a hold of me, like the One Ring. What psychological maladjustment makes me think that for me... it will work as promised? That I can enter that vortex of voodoo and emerge unscathed? It's the same impulse the black-jack player experiences when his total is 12 and the dealer has a 6.

No. No thank you. I'll stand.

Actually, I did try it several years ago.  Everything went along like it was supposed to, but then when the posting happened, nothing had changed.

I think I was one of the lucky ones.

If I remember, we had some posters actually start a new account with their new avatar because they disliked the weeble so much.

As I previously posted I did try that.  A narrow white page overlays what you show.  But I see no way to add anything.

I must admit that while my motivation was initially a tongue in cheek response to Kevin’s Magnum Opus, I did know that Tom, (and others) had problems with his avatar, and also realised that many of the Weebles have made, and are continuing to make valuable contributions to the Forum.

Rebell and Rich. I’m not claiming 100% (90% ??) accuracy but I basically complied the list by trawling the posts from the first page of the 4 topic pages. Apart from that most prolific Forum Member Anonymous all the others are current. There was one on a resurrected thread who upon checking hadn’t posted since 2011 and two who showed “No Activity”, they were not included.

One of the things that I generally like about this forum, though it can be frustrating on “serious” threads, is how quickly things can go off topic. LaughLaugh For the record, having driven trucks many years ago, I also hated brake checkers and tailgaters, still do!!Angry

With the vagaries of the Forum software, I don’t even log off now, so I don’t blame those who leave well alone!!

Thanks for the responses.
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Hey... please be advised that my Publicity Agent must approve all photos of me!

Gidday Jim, though my legal people suggested that you should perhaps revaluate the worth of your publicist regarding your image, they did suggest that I should have respected your privacy, and to make amends.
I hope this serves.

I’ve never been convinced that a black line across the eyes is a particularly good device for aiding anonymity so I’ve gone for the “Cool in Shades Look”!
