When wiring three lamp turnout signals to the A, B, Common connectors on Atlas relays, Does it make any differance if the signal is wired to the top or bottom connectors? The slider on the relay is to the viewers left : ie a right hand turnout.
I'm concerned about shorting out the relay if polarities are not correct for DCC opperation. I have viewed diagrams for this, and am trying to rap my brain around it.
Diagrams would be appreciated.

What do you intend to show with the 3 lamps? Normally, a turnout position indicator shows green for the normal path, and red (or maybe yellow) for the other path, but there are only two paths, so 3 lights would need some other option.
I have a pair of 3-light signals I use for turnout position indicators. The red light shows the turnout is not aligned for that path. The yellow and green lights indicate the position of the next turnout down the line.
My signal system is NOT real railroad prototype.

In your interlocking tower you would have two or more levers to control the plant.
When levers are in their down or NORMAL position the switch is set for the normal route and the interlocking signal is RED.
Aligh the turnouts for your selected movement. The first turnout detyermines if the interlocking signal will be GREEN or YELLOW depending on the alignment of the switch.
However the home signal will still display RED until you clear the signal (control in reverse position)
Yes this gives you one more control lever to play with, but is far more realistic. Your locomotive should be on dead track until the home signal is cleared.

Are you talking about controller or selector switches (which aren't relays)?
Also using the DCC system to power the signals is generally a bad idea. It will overload the DCC system and could cause it to not work well.

He says the Atlas Relays as they do have A, B & Common. Both sides of the relay. Not sure why he wants to use all 3 colors. It's made for 2 colors. I have many of them on my layout..

Thanks for responding to my question regarding how to wire three lamp turnout signals. Yes I am using Atlas snap Relays, and switch machines. I will connect these to AC power, and a SPDT switch, in place of the switch controller as shown.
I have looked at a diagram at www. tysmodelrailroad.blogspot.com, which shows the lamps wired to the viewers top. I whould like to make connections at the bottom for easier wiring to the signals location on my layout. Don't what to short these out.
My understanding is the yellow lamp is constant.red and green will display dependant upon turnout, and mainline direction.
