Can't believe nobody's mentioned "The General" yet - Buster Keaton silent film with plenty of early 4-4-0 steamers in the Civil War era, stunts are impressive considering Keaton had to do all his own (including using one real railroad tie to bounce another off the line). One of my favourite films as a kid!

Thanks jdavid93225 (Joe). I couldn't think of the title of the movie at the time, but Tough Guys...
No, I don't believe there has ever been a movie with actors and a plot that focuses just on the train itself.
I've never seen atomic train. I'm going to have to check that one out.
I also forgot about Run Away Train (if that's the right title) about the two convicts that escape from an Alaskan prison and highjack a train that they end up running off a cliff.
Come on guys, help me out here...

Well, let's see. There's "The Train Robbers" with John Wayne, "Rio Lobo" with John Wayne, "Red River" with, yup, you guessed it, John Wayne...

All of these movies feature trains at some point, but the train is not the focus of the movie, for the most part. I'd have to say that my favorite movie in which the train was the primary focus was "Tough Guys" featuring Burt Lancaster and his sidekick as train robbers, but I can't recall the name of the co-star. It was a pretty good movie though, and featured an SP GS4 Daylight (#4449). I haven't seen all those others previously mentioned, nor have I mentioned all I've seen. These are just a few I remember.

Again, my favorite is Emporer of the North, but I hadn't seen The Polar Express when I last answered this topic. I still go with E. of the N. but Polar Express was VERY, VERY good! Especially in 3D, which needs to be great to impress me in the first place! Tom Hanks did an excellant job on this one.

I guess I'd have to say that my favorite train movie is Emperor Of The North with Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine. Otherwise, there really aren't a lot of movies out there that involve trains that I can think of off hand except for maybe Silverstreak and Polar Express...
