This one is up for some truck work. see that tack board on the end? It bugged me that the boards were vertical and not horizontal as I believe the railroad gods demanded. So I pried them off and gave them a 90° turn.

Wouldn't 'ya know a while later I found a photo of a NYC box car with — yep, tackboards with vertical boards on the ends

...and the sidesills and over-sized doors tracks, too...
...and some new Viking roofs...
...along with some new 5-5-5- ends, (from Tichy), and with some scratchbuilt running boards...
...and new door tracks, free-standing ladders and grabirons, new doors and underset straight sidesills...
...and with some paint and lettering, along with a little weathering, another 8 steel boxcars, built in 1924...

How about showing us some refrigerator cars.

Here are a pair of ice bunker reefers at the A&P warehouse. The A&P reefer gets lots of mileage delivering loads to various towns on the layout. Several years ago I started a thread asking why a canned food company like Van Camp's would need reefers. Some speculated it might be for raw foods delivered to their cannery but somebody checked the reporting marks and indicated such a car never existed.
