I need help finding the age of my marx train set
Posted by GN24 on Monday, March 7, 2022 2:27 PM

I have had a marx train set for a few years and I am just wondering if any of you guys know how old it might be. It is the 6096 hudson in HO scale The set has a tank car, boxcar, bay window caboose, remote and track. It also had a tube of smoke fluid that came with it.

I tried googleing the date it was made but I couldn't manage to find it.

Your link to the photo is still not working but if your set is #79542, the closest I can currently date it too, is the 1960s.

My first model rr equipment was given to me back further thann my memory goes.  One was a pre-war Lionel 0-6-0 set  Still have the train.  The other train was an American Flyer O gauge Burlington Zepher which wasn't in very good shape, never did much with it, but keep it.  I decided to look it up for interest.  Since getting it about 75 years ago I have moved many times and when we got here it was stored in the garage.  I knew where it was until it got moved severall times by sons and grandson so they could use the garage first for storage, then making use for working on vehicles.  The other day I went looking and miraculusly (sp) found it.

Googled "American Flyer, Burlington Zepher 9900" got that  it was a pre-war model and several ebay references.  Didn't try to read all the other info to look for years of production, etc.

Try some different terms when you google, seems you should find something.

Good luck,

Richard

I should have added that you should post on the Classic Toy Tains secton of these forums, since Marx would come under their flag.

Good luck,

Richard
