I would have been sure that there were far more special commodity cars about, but as things are moving so slowly, “first in, best dressed!!”.

Here's a couple of GERN Industries convertible boxcars, for moving GERN-brand flux products....
...and with the floor covers in-place over the discharge hoppers, the cars are ideal for shipping bagged flux products. For buyers using flux in bulk, the covers are opened, and the cars loaded through the roof hatches.
A few years after these cars went into service, GERN opened their car-building factory, producing all-steel covered hoppers....
...and later granted licensing to ACF, Pullman Standard and National Steel Car, to produce similar cars...well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Superb scene, Ed. One of these days I hope to get some of my scenes lighted. I have lights in place in some scenes but have yet to wire them to a power source. That's #242 on my to-do list. Right now I am in the middle of a track realignment and rehab on my suburban station scene. I have to rebalast the track and clean up the buildings and details which had fallen into disrepair. I might get that done today and post it if the request is still for station scenes. Let's keep those station scenes coming.
John-NYBWLet's keep those station scenes coming.
Thank you, John. From the early days of my layout construction I've incorporated lighting as a key part of the modeling. Something "magical" happens when the room lights are dimmed and the miniature layout lights, plus select "key" lights from overhead, are illuminated.
Pretty much what has been the norm in theater and motion picture houses, keep the house lights low and the spot lights on the action.

Did somebody ask for more passenger trains? I've got lots of passenger trains. Probably too many in relation to the number of freight trains I run. Everything for commuters to long distance limiteds.
Here are a couple morning commuter trains at the suburban station of West Chester.
During the morning rush hour, both tracks of the double track main are for inbound commuters. In the evening, it reverses to both tracks outbound.
I don't think we've seen enough passenger related pictures and we only have one day left in March. Keep those passenger train and depot pictures coming.

A Pennsylvania Railroad freight passes the old Black River Station as passengers board a NYC RDC for a trip into Toledo. I think the black and white image does a better job of capturing the feeling of the era than a color image would.
