Good start guys. I hope Kevin gets back in soon too. The only progress on the layout is under the surface, so to participate, I'll pull a recent one that I hadn't loaded to Fotki, thus haven't shared.

Here's the stuff I've been working on. First up is a new challenge for me: Decaling in N scale.
CMR decals are "Interesting" to work with.
Next up are a few shots on my HO scale layout
A former D&RGW Tunnel motor heads east out of Rook Yard on the Wheeling & Lake Erie. The Tunnel motor is in a second life, still in Rio Grande colors due to the corperate of the WE being former Rio Grande employees.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
I'm not sure if I have this photo sharing figured out yet. If I got it right, you'll see an overall photo of my 12' x 6' HO layout. I am modeling the B&M in Lowell, MA in the early 50s. I am just getting started getting my base ground cover down. I hate to admit how long it has taken to get to this point. It has been about 15 years of starts and stops, but hopefully I'll have the trains running soon.

Jimmy, glad I don't work in N scale, HO is bad enough. One of my club members used the CMR decals and had lots of problems, although they make one set I need, so will be trying them in the near future.
Steve, that is a good looking layout, can't wait to see more of it!
Managed to get a few cars done this week.
A kit built already decorated Bowser PRR N8 caboose, these are nicely detailed kits and I added all the brake rodding and parts on the underframe.
Intermountain ACF 1958CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Herald King Decals. This is the one of many of these cars I have built as the D&TS picked up 20 or more of these cars a day from the sand pit in Rockwood, MI. This was high mineral content sand that was used by the glass plants in the Toledo area.
Red Caboose PC&F R70-15 Mechanical Refridgerator car kit, painted with Scalecoat II White and ATSF Red Paints, then lettered with Oddball Decals. The BKTY marking represent cars leased thru Bankers Trust (Owned by the SP) which is why the cars are built to SP specs and the BKTY markings meant they could be reclaimed easily if the MKT had any financial problems, they were used is moving perishible fruits and vegtables.
Last week I took my Kato GP35 and a pair of Atlas RS-32's to the club to run a mixed freight of NYC and other RR's mixed freight.

Thanks for opening WPF Mike. I love how you modeled the wilderness setting of the Denver & Rio Grande. I'm going after a wilderness theme myself. Can't even tell that siding you added hasn't always been there.
I always like your scenes David. Trains through the back yard work for me I had a customer I worked for that purposely bought land to build his house next to the railroad tracks in the backyard. His whole basement was an impressive HO layout.
A mighty fine job on that cliff scenery behind the SP Cotton Belt Southgate.
Great job on the Carload Express decals Jimmy and I like that utility building model you made.

The cars turned out very impressive Rick.
I made a random stone culvert bridge out of a meat packing tray Judy saves for me, a hunk of foam, a cardboard tube and a piece of Masonite. It will have a two-lane road on the other side.
Honestly, I'm not real happy with the way it turned out. I didn't do drawings ahead of time and I think proportionally it looks cosmetically incorrect.
It might look better re-vamped with these bigger tubes.

A while back I rebuilt the roundhouse and never got around to reprogramming the indexing system, a long and tedious prospect. Since I still had the gears from the original Diamond Scale drive setup I decided to go back to "old-school" manual control.

That handwheel has a nice feel and the gearing is just right for aligning the bridge to the track. I need to take out just a little backlash from the gearing but I have a plan for that.

So far all I have is the shelf finally up and level for the 3D printer.
I never thought of meat packing foam. Thin flexible and takes impressions well. That would make a good street surface for potholes and such. Especially inner city industrial where the asphalt peels off the cobblestone. Have to toy with that
