Recently, I was wiring a locomotive with a new decoder. I removed the light board which was dcc ready with an 8 pin dummy/jumper plug. During the install, I lost the 8 pin plug. I like to save them for future installs, but I gave up the search after awhile. Then today, as I was working in the office/train room, I stepped on the darn thing and drove it deep into my foot. Good golly did I yelp. Sat there bleeding like a stuck pig while I tried to keep the blood off of the floor.
Lesson? Keep track of the darn connection parts. Your feet will thank you. Just wanted to share this PSA, and maybe give everyone a good laugh. Be smarter than the Dawg!

It was a new locomotive that I bought. I was just getting around to installing a decoder. I run DCC, but sometimes I buy a DC locomotive and add a decoder of my choice.

You misunderstand. I was speaking about you after you plugged the plug into your foot.
We have a rule at our place Dawg. Slippers or shoes only, ...No bare foot or stocking feet allowed.
I use T-pins all the time modeling. Now and then I've been known to misplace only one or two.

What's really amazing is that I bet you looked at that exact spot on the floor several times and did not see it.

That had to be painful, but I'm glad you're Ok. It is annoying when you have something very close by or in front of you and then it suddenly disappears!
After experiencing that several times, I followed the advice a friend gave me years ago: Assemble / disassemble a model or its parts on top of a small white terry-cloth bath or kitchen towel (even if your unit is already in a box). When resistors, coupler springs, or airhoses fall off, they will stop right on top of the towel instead of bouncing off off the table and taking a high speed flight to the Klingon empire through a wormhole!

My six year old grandson loves to help papa in the shop. He dropped a box of tacks on the floor and when I stepped through the door drove about a dozen into my foot. 99.9 percent of the time I wear shoes in the shop. That .01 percent hurt real bad. At least he was trying to pick them up. He's also the reason I don't have jars of nails, screws, and other hardware on the shelves anymore. And the baby food jars are no longer screwed between the rafters. The contents removed to less breakable containers.
I know how you feel.
