Isn't Florida one of the most accident-prone states to drive in? I sure recall some near-misses during the few visits I've made there.
Our hotel overlooked International Drive in Orlando on one visit and we could look out the balcony and generally see a fender-bender soon enough.
Heinekin is getting in short supply around here! Should have stocked up. Possibly due to the container shortage/rates?
I'll have to go back to home brewing. We have the hops!

This is a good time to visit Gnu England.
ROAR
Lion mentioned Gnu England and instantly I was taken back to my first girlfriend. She was a Barry Manilow fan. I think every song Barry Manilow ever performed started out slow and melodic, crescendoing throughout until its/his screaming end. Fortunately for me she went to all his concerts with her groupie girlfriends and I was spared. You never forget your first love, we are still good friends, she is a Doctor at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Here ya go Brother Elias.
Kevin, your yard looks amazing, well done.
My sister is coming down to say goodbye to my daughter, which translates into giving her a big wad of cash so she doesn't starve at University.
We just went and picked up a University grant that my daughter got for all her volunteer work. She did not know how much she was awarded in advance of picking it up. This year she got $5000.00 and it is already in the bank. It pays to volunteer.

Mike good luck with your hip. Last year in the deer stand, I noticed when I crossed my leg, with my left across my right femur, the lower left leg was parallel to the ground, When I crossed my right leg, I could not get it close to parallel. Now I am having a hard time getting my right leg into my pants while standing.
No pain so I will put it off as long as possible. Nothing to report on the cardiac front, except the sensor's charge doesn't last the 3 days advertised.
My son's stepson has tested positive for covid. So far he and the rest of the family are asymptomatic.
I think Virginia would be a good place, but I am not volunteering. The job others did was so much better than my attempt a couple years ago.
I see we are back to 504 Errors on this site.

It is time for a Heineken!
Good afternoon fellow Diners. I hope everyone is well.
I went to Orlando yesterday to drop off my daughter's DragonCon CosPlay props with my sister. The drive was terrible, more on that later. I did get there in time to visit Colonial Photo And Hobby, my old favorite train store. I had not been there since late 2019, almost two years. Unbelievable.
It is looking a little worn on the outside.
The camera section is still awesome. I picked up a good deal on a used 28mm-135mm image stabilized lens for my T6 Canon Rebel. I will try that out soon.
They still sell and process professional 35mm film here. There are many serious photographers that keep this store in business.
The train side of Colonial Photo And Hobby was very barren. Most of the shelves were 1/2 empty. Looking around, almost all the inventory is brand new. It does not look like they have a problem with dead inventory sitting around.
I talked to one of the workers and he told me they cannot buy train inventory. According to them, all the manufacturers are out of inventory at their level. They can get a few Walthers products, Kato, and Bachmann, but most other items cannot be had. They said they have not been able to buy any locomotives other than Bachmann and Walthers wholesale.
There is nearly no Lionel or Large Scale trains in the store at all.
They have expanded the plastic model section into some of the train area to take up the shelf space. They have very few military models. They said getting those kits is a problem now too.
This cannot be good for the hobby shop business.
I did find a couple of the Rapido electric uncouplers. I will build a small section of track to experiment with these soon.
I drove out to my sister's house to drop off the props. She is leaving for DragonCon on Wednesday.
She has this 50+ year old Crape Myrtel in her front yard. I am jealous of this tree. My Crape Myrtels are just over 15 years old. I will never see them this magnificent.
On the drive to Orlando there was a terrible accident on Interstate 4 where it meets US27 West of Orange County. A big U-haul towing a U-haul trailer had rolled in the median. All of the contents were thrown all over the highway. I hope the driver was OK. It looked like a family has lost everything they own. It was a horrible site. Traffic was backed up for miles in all directions.
On the return trip home I saw two accidents. One on SR17 North of Arcadia with four cars in the ditch, and another on US41 in Punta Gorda where an 18 wheeler hit a car at an intersection.
Three accidents in one day is too much.
One year ago today my Areca Palms were planted in my backyard. In just one year they have grown in quite well.
Very soon they should give me complete privacy in the backyard.
That is all for now. Sorry to go on-and-on like that.

Living the dream.
Morning all from a damp West Coast. The Sun is supposed to be back by noon and I think it will be ahead of schedule by the look of it.
Went to the Dentist last week and they discovered a cracked tooth and booked me in for a crown after the dust settled from getting my daughter back to University. Well, the tooth just broke and now I have a big jagged tooth to deal with until I get back. It's a good thing I am taking my cousin a couple of bottles of wine, I'll need it.
My Cousins in England take their car back and forth to France all the time for short vacations, it is really reasonable. Our ferry to Vancouver Island is $75.00CA one way for car and driver. I think that is a really good deal.
It has been a long time since I have been to Europe, I use to go all the time when I was single. Hawaii seemed to be the destination of choice after we got married as it could be done last minute with our family's hectic schedule. We went to Hawaii a couple of years ago but covid has put a stop to going anywhere international for us. It was Christmas day and we just decided to get out of town at the last minute and left on the 27th. Came home to a very dried-out Christmas tree.
Great Big Boy pics MLC, I would love to see it in person one day. Maybe it will come to Seattle one day, I would drive down to see it there in a heartbeat.
Terrible hurricane damage down South, after seeing those storm surges, I am glad to be on high ground. I was surprised to learn that Vancouver gets less rain than so many Gulf Coast cities. Even when a tsunami warning is issued we can roll over and go back to sleep. We are at about 85m and inland a ways.
I had a good go on the recumbent bike (paid for the rum) and have finally stopped leaking, so time to get going and stop being a layabout.
Blowdown shields.
All the best to all.
NorthBrit45 Euros, John. About $60 each way.
That's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
My kids all rode the tunnel train in the coach two years ago. I didn't know you could drive your car onto the train.
York1 Good morning, diners. Last day for this month's interesting travels. David, that was an interesting video of the tunnel crossing. I didn't have the sound on ... I wonder how expensive it is do this with a car.

pavThank you for the UK videos David. One of my favorite train rides, was from Paddington to St. Erth to Carbis Bay. We (my wife, daughter and I) would walk the coastal path to St. Ives and take the train back to Carbis Bay. These trips were some of our best vacations. Regards, Eric
It's storming out right now. The thunder woke me up this morning.
This is the double track Illinois Central bridge across the Missouri River at Omaha. It's not used anymore, but they did a study to see if it could be used in case the UP bridge was out of service. The east half of the bridge is permanently open:

Not very promising.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Good day eh. From a sunny Pacific basin.
With University starting and a long weekend, I booked the ferry so we could be assured of not having to wait a sailing. They run once an hour but still this week is busy. I got the same boat both ways. I always love the trip, stunning beauty.
I will drop my daughter off and have a quick visit with my cousin and get back home as the Mother-in-law is on the decline so the wife is being stretched pretty thin and I need to help where I can. Our mini-vacation will happen some other time.
I just got off the phone with a daughter of close friends in Virginia. She was letting us know that both her parents have covid and are in hospital, her Dad is not expected to survive. She was spitting bullets saying that they were so stupid not getting vaccinated. The daughter was vaccinated in the late spring but her parents just blew it off. I talked to her for a long time as she was in tears.
Hurricanes and fires, I feel lucky where I am, the weather is never an issue, and wildfires in the Fraser Valley are rare and are knocked down right away when they do occur.
Need to hop on the Deere before heading overseas.
TA TA for now.
Waiting to fall in behind for a ten-mile push.
Good morning crew. I just scrolled back a few pages to catch up with what's been going on.
Kevin goes back to work! My brother works at HD, part time.
Not much going on with me, keeping very busy, working on things at our WI. north woods place, which includes trips around the chain of lakes on our pontoon boat, along with fishing.
Now that we are both retired, we spend about 3 weeks up there, and about 2 weeks down here, in SE. WI.
I'm putting on an addition to the north woods place, slowly turning it into a year around home. Probably get rid of the cape code, with all the steps, and move up there.
I've had a sore hip the last few weeks, my doctor and my rheumatologist think it's time for a hip replacement. I see my orthopedic surgeon on Thursday for an evaluation.
That will slow me down for a little while!. Hopefully, a very little while.
My old Dell T3500, with Windows 7 finially died. Actually, it was my fault. I had the tower sitting on a piece of 2x6 to keep it up off the carpet. After a while, I guess it got moved around enough that it flopped over on it's side.
Everything kept working, I carefully stood it back it back up, then it all went dark.
It was out of support anyway, I think since December of last year.
My IT Tech daughter told me I might have scrambled the hard drive. She thinks she can still retrieve some of the data from it.
On to a new computer! I now have a HP All in one (AIO), there is no tower, it's all built into the back of the huge (20"x13") screen. Uses Windows 10.
Did I read that TF was in WI. ?
Later guys!
Mike.

Good morning, everyone. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee please, Brunhilda.
MLC, camping and train-watching. That sounds like a perfect time.
Bear, nice pictures of your vacation. Beautiful country.
It's supposed to rain late today, so that means I need to cut the grass today. We are having great weather, with temps in the 80s.
We still have some relatives in New Orleans. The ones we have contacted left before the storm, but we have some that live in the swamps right in the path of the storm. I don't know if they were able to get out.
How about the RRRR?
Just got back yesterday from seeing the Big Boy in Poplar Bluff MO.
I spend 4 days camping over in MO and "chasing" the train.
I will post some pictures later, they have imgur blocked here at work.
Got some really nice shots.
Good morning Diners. A rainy Bank Holiday Monday here in the land of the North British Railway.
