Thanks for the kind words everyone. That little Bachmann train has been running around our tree for 25 years and survived kids and grand kids.
The houses are just a few of a larger collection, some years I have set up much more elaborate displays, This year we kept it simple, been real busy and we figure the youngest grandchild, two years old, does not need too many small bits to get into.

When our youngest daughter moved out, the three girls split up our Christmas Village collection between them.
They have "dibs" on our collection of ornaments, but hopefully they will need to wait a while for those.

Yup! Bought a Bachmann G scale train set this year just for this purpose. Wife loves it; cats undecided....
We have two small trees (artificial) this year since we are in a new house. I put up the Lionel set I received as a Christmas present in 1954 and it is still in very good condition. I had hope to have my HO train table brought over from my parent's house and working before Christmas, but still trying to find help because of the pandemic.
The cats have broken THREE telegraph poles so far - and it is only December 20.
I write "cats," but I am pretty sure I know which cat it is.
At least I have all the pieces and can glue the arms back on the poles.
