I moved this post to the New Mexico edition of the diner.

Living the dream.
TOP OF THE PAGE! For the last time in Mexico. I am going to have myself a Modelo Negra from my refrigerator, feel free to join me.
Good stuff!
The leaves are slowly starting to change already up here
I don't know about you guys but I'm going to take a trip to Boston next month
Duluth has the Fall colors but I have heard how Exquisite Boston is with a view of the sea

New Mexico seems to have met with approval so I will move the Diner there in a couple of hours. Mean time I will do some homework.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Yep, ...You might want to stay down there for a while

It's going to take quite a few more than one to get the idea of a program on menopause out of my mind.

Seriously
Are you going to watch that with her John?

My wife and I love to watch "Antiques Roadshow" on our PBS station. It is on Mondays at 7:00 p.m.
However, tonight is a pledge drive on PBS.
At 7:00 p.m., they are running a special pledge drive program, "Let's Talk Menopause".
I can't wait. I really want to relive those wonderful years in our marriage!

Some local kayakers had a real treat when a pod of Orca came for a visit. Smiles all around. I wish I had been there.

RideOnRoadHey Chip, we too have been enjoying a respite from the heat, but certainly not from the humidity. This morning was a balmy 76 but the dew point was up in the mid-60s. It will be short lived--the forecast for Saturday is back up to 110.
I have been enjoying it. Not looking forward to more 110 degrees though.
Woke up at 3 am and I didn't get far working on the layout. Just did some neggly little stuff--the kind you need 3.0 reading glasses and tweezers for. A couple of hours and I was done.
Probably heading for a nap soon.

As for New Mexico, I have spent a fair amount of time in our neighboring state since it is where Mrs. ROR was born and raised. There are some interesting sites I will add to the mix once the diner is relocated.

Aftyernoon folks!
Janie I could use a tall glass of lemonade this afternoon..... Yeah, the stiuff sweetened with Sweet Leaf, please.
BATMANSince the old guy moved on she has hardly left his bed that is on the floor. She is out of sorts, that's for sure.
I would be sure she is in mourning just like you are. Dogs are very aware (as I know you know) of most everything we are. Poor girl! One of the cutest things I have ever seen is one of my son's little dogs (the one with the bad overbite), will sit on my DIL's lap. She says "I love you", the dog gets very excited and says "wry yuv oo" back to her. Very obvious he knows what she is saying and is telling her that he Loves her too! Cute as can be!
Feel sorry for this abused doggie, I do!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Good day eh, from the cloudy Pacific Rim.
Thanks for the kind words of my loss, it still feels weird not having him with me. We have an 11-year-old dog that sleeps on the couch as it is beneath her to sleep on the floor. Since the old guy moved on she has hardly left his bed that is on the floor. She is out of sorts, that's for sure.
Well, the Canucks really blew it, I suspect that is the end for them as winning three in a row is a tall order against the Golden Knights.
Dave, I know what you mean about sharp saw blades. I watched some You-Tube videos on sharpening blades and was really impressed with the job I did, however, being as lazy as I am I still just buy them. It is nice knowing I can sharpen one in a pinch though.
Richard, sorry to hear of the A/C mishap. It is always the wrong time for those things to happen. I remember I was leaving on a long trip overseas once and broke three teeth the morning of. call to my Dentist explaining my situation had me in the chair getting fixed up with temporary repairs before the flight. I got lucky.
New Mexico sounds fun, can't wait.
Painters are not coming today as the weather is iffy and I feel like doing a whole lot of nothing. Got the hose draining the 60,000 ltrs out of the pool as Fall is definitely in the air. It just siphons the water out and takes about a week.
Have to get to the lawyer to pick up a very large cheque for the Estate I am dealing with and find somewhere to park the millions until such time as I can turn it over to the beneficiary, likely next Summer by the time all the loose ends are tidied up.
This lady was the last of a very wealthy family from the Boston Area. She moved to Vancouver over forty years ago. The fact she is a U.S. citizen that became a landed immigrant in Canada presents some issues for dispersal of her assets. I need to tread very carefully.
Think I will go get another cuppa as it is still morning here and I need it.
All the best to all.
Now
and then.
RideOnRoadThe A/C compressors are located on pads outside the house. We don't have basements here so the furnace/AC condensor coil and blower is in the attic. We have two AC units, one for each side of the house, and the furnace for the second unit is in the garage.
Yep! I did know that, just being ornery.... . Hope everything gets fixed and up to par quickly and your insurance covers most everything!
howmus. . .Makes me glad where I live they put Air Conditioning units outside the house...... Well, OK the part that creates condensation is in the basement as part of the furnace. . .

Nice day here in the Finger Lakes with the current temp at 69°F. Very pleasant for my morning run. Of course here we have 4 seasons.... Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Repair.
For those of you that may be planning to do some hiking over the Labor Day Weekend, do take this Warning seriously.... We have had a few sightings of Black Bears right here in Geneva this year. (just a couple young cubs moving through last Spring actually, but they are around!)
Brent, so sorry to hear of your dog having to be put down. Sounds like he had a good home and a good life!
I am on the phone with the insurance claim department. Over the weekend we discovered that the condensation drain for the A/C unit in the attic is plugged. We figured it out when we saw a big bulge (actually two big bulges) in the paint in the ceiling. We poked a hole and water came gushing out. I have been told everything, except the A/C repair is covered. Wahoo!

Good morning Zoe, I will just have a black coffee.
The landscapers are coming today to install 42 Areca Palms, a Coconut Palm, and a Southern Magnolia. Delivery and installation was only $150.00 additional cost, and that is 44 holes I do not have to dig... A BARGAIN!
I am driving to Tampa tomorrow. This will be the first shopping trip I have been on in months. My wife thinks that we will find the perfect bathroom mirror at IKEA, so I will see what she picks out for us.
New Mexico sounds good for the diner. I will have nothing to contribute. I have never been to New Mexico.
Everybody be safe today.
I will vote for New Mexico for the diner. Never been there, so that's a good enough excuse for me.
I love an excuse to get a new tool. I won't buy one because I think I might need it some day, but when there's a job to be done, I will get a tool for it if I need one.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Brent, my thoughts are with you. Both for the dog, and the canucks.
Kevin, I love having the right tool for the job. When I replaced some flooring in our upstairs I had to undercut a few door frames and started doing so by hand. I cut one side of one frame, then I bought an oscillating saw. What a difference! Still can't understand why I waited to get one.
Ed, I'm calling today for quotes to have 5 trees taken down. 4 big pines and a huge old elm tree that is falling apart on it's own. Don't want that one coming down unplanned. A tree service just dropped a huge old oak tree that was dying in my neighborhood this weekend. Probably 100 years old. Took them two full days.
Everyone, hope you have a good Monday!
Cheers,
Mike

Heartland Division CB&QWhere will we have the September Diner.
Hi Garry,
I had suggested some place where the fall colours would be good, but it was wisely suggested that we do that in October when the the colours are at their prime. As an alternate for September, I suggested going to New Mexico, even though it is right next door to where we are now. My reasoning was that I came across a ton of New Mexico railroading when I was searching for Mexican railroads. There seems to be a lot going on there, both modern and historical.
Other suggestions are most welcome!
I'll volunteer to start the Diner wherever it ends up unless somebody else wants to, and I'll try not to fall asleep this time!
A brand new blade is always the key to a new job
I'm just glad I never had to chisel thinset with a hammer drill but that doesn't mean I'm too good for the job
It just means a brand-new 2" chisel bit would be in order
SeeYou190Why did I wait so long to buy this tool? I knocked out 50% of the thin set today in about 3 hours. Tomorrow I will level this half of the room and get ready to lay some tile! Moving forward at good speed now!
Looking good Kevin!
I asked myself why I waited so long to replace my radial arm saw blades. It's amazing how much easier life is with a good tool!
